This is the first time I've ever been disappointed by a Pokémon game after buying it at launch. I’m usually veryyy tolerant when it comes to graphics as long as it doesn’t ruin the fun of the game but that’s what’s happening to me right now. The gameplay is extremely fun nonetheless, I’m 10 hours in and I only have two badges because I love wandering through the map. The feeling of liberty is amazing but unfortunately I can’t fully enjoy it because of these technical issues. Some bugs are funny to me but the npc walking at idk 5 fps? it's just so distracting. The graphics are kind of weird, they’re not hideous but it’s weird to see characters/pokemon with so many details in a "N64 world". I’m aware it might be a very controversial opinion but I would have loved for them to stick with Sword & Shield’s art style but improved with better graphics as I think it looks better when it’s less realistic. I agree with a lot of people about the fact that underneath all the graphical and technical issues lies a very good Pokémon game. Arceus graphics were meh to me but at least it ran kinda smoothly so I tolerated it and also because the game was very good. Right now I would generously give the game a 7/10 but it could easily have been a 10/10 with good graphics/performance and if you could enter the houses in towns
I just really hope they will take more time with the next game. I’m fine with not playing a Pokémon game every year, having two big releases this year has always been weird to me. And I also understand the anger from a lot of fans because I really don’t think it is normal to release a game in this state.
