@Pocketim Have to agree with you on the newer sonic games playing themselves. While Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure aren't that bad, I felt like for the majority of the level I was just holding right. My favourites would have to Sonic 2, 3 and Sonic and Knuckles for the Mega Drive (Genesis).
This is the first Wii game I'm interested in getting since hearing about Skyward Sword. The box art looks amazing, and since I haven't got a classic controller pro yet, I'll probably get that version.
Because by rating it M (Teen) instead of PG, it will make a huge difference to child security and welfare, protecting thousands of innocent young people from freely accessing such obscene pornographic material.
@lzbirdboy To be honest I would actually prefer Ocarina of Time in HD to 3D. I'll still buy the 3DS version, but I doubt Nintendo would go to the effort of remaking it a second time.
Before anyone posts more questions, Australasia is a region of Oceania, consisting of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and some of the surrounding islands to the North.
The difference is that Oceania extends from South-East Asia near Indonesia right through the entire Pacific Ocean to the Americas, including all the islands out on the ocean, such as Hawaii and Easter Island.
Why can't they just announce the official specs now? If it's more powerful than current gen the we will have something to get exited over, if it's the same then at least no one will be dissapointed at launch time.
Every news article I read seems to alternate between saying that this is "significantly" more powerful than current consoles or warning us that we shouldn't have high expectations. Why don't they settle this now, rather than keep us guessing, when they already know the answers to our questions?
This is a first! Australia has never got decent club Nintendo offers before, except for that classic SNES controler which cost 3000 stars and only stayed on the catalogue for a week. Luckily I managed to get one of them!
Anyway, hopefully this trend will continue. I've always been envious of Europe's offers and those bookmarks, pencil cases, folders and Japanese fold fans really aren't worth my precious stars.
While this is slightly dissapointing, at least now I can buy the rest of the Zelda games on Virtual Console without having to worry about wasting my money if a Zelda 25th Anniversary Collection was made. As long as they will tranfer to Wii U...
Didn't realise how long it was until seeing that side picture. Looks pretty similar to the Wii. It's not bad, but I was hoping for something maybe a little different.
Seems like Nintendo hasn't given up on the casual gimmicks yet. I'll take them seriously once a proper title is shown, whether it be Smash Bros or Zelda HD.
@Gavin_Rozee I'd much prefer a black console to another white one. If Nintendo don't want to be seen in the same market as Apple, they should stop making plain white consoles.
@y2josh That doesn't really mean much, because Arkham Asylum is due out in October and it is also supposed to be a launch title on Wii U, but will be released much later than on other consoles.
I kind of have to agree with the name though, definately not the best name ever. I think Nintendo just need to get over the whole inclusive pronouns thing. It seems that many "hardcore" gamers gave up on this console as soon as they heard the name.
@Kevin Agreed. Nintendo really need to get their act together and get this off the ground, becasue the Wii isn't going to keep selling and its release schedule is looking pretty desolate. They also would do better to release before Sony and Microsoft announce their next gen consoles, whenever that may be.
I only just realised this is being developed by Next Level Games, not Nintendo. It's looking really good, though it's been a long wait, but this sounds like it could be even better than the original!
Does anyone know if games purchased on the Wii Virtual Console will tranfer to Wii U? From what I've heard it seems than Nintendo will be using an account system on Wii U similar to Xbox Live or PSN, but on the Wii, games purchased are locked by console not account. I know the DSi games transfer to 3DS, but as far as I know these games are also locked in by the console itself. Will Nintendo let us add these Wii games to a new account or will all Virtual Console games have to be re-bought?
@ZeldaFTW It's a good single player RTS and a very unique game. If you're interested I recommend you try out one of the New Play Control Pikmin titles for Wii. They're pretty cheap now, about $25 or so in AU, which means they'd be even cheaper in the US.
Dissapointing that I won't be able to play my Gamecube games on the Wii U, but if Gamecube gets added to a new virtual console, that will definately make up for it.
Also good to see it uses 25GB disc size, which is at least equivalent to the PS3 format, although it seems like Nintendo is really just catching up with 5-year-old technology.
You can also add Battlefield 3 to that list. It was shown during the press conference in the background during the 3rd party video. EA President John Riccitiello also talked about what they could do with Battlefield 3 on the Wii U, saying it would include the same graphics and online features as the other versions.
I think Pikmin would work a lot better on the Wii U. It would have both the controller screen and much greater system power to give it a new twist so it doesn't feel like another port of Pikmin 1 and 2. Definately looking forward to this one.
Nice to see that it runs in 1080p, but if you really want to see what it can do, look up the Zelda HD demo. I'm hoping this one stays as a tech demo though becasue it doesn't seem like anything new, except for the Miis, which to be honest I couldn't care less about.
Does this mean it can't play GameCube games? I was hoping I could get rid of my Wii when this was announced, but maybe not. As far as stats go, I really want to know the exact CPU and GPU specs but it seems like Nintendo is dodging the questions.
@WaveBoy I just read an article on IGN saying that Pikmin 3 has officially been moved over to Wii U. They said it could possibly be a launch title on the new console.
Three Zelda games in 1 year? That's got to be a first. I'm interested in what Nintendo have in plan for the 25th anniversary and whether it will be something new or a collection or re-release. I'm really more excited about a new HD Zelda for Wii 2 than Skyward Sword, but that could be a long time away.
I'm not interested in seeing an online achievements system, standard dual analog controls or Call of Duty on the Wii 2. If I wanted that I would play a 360 of PS3. I want to see what Nintendo can do with their franchises on a new, more powerful console, where there are no limits to what they can do or create, and games that do not have to be "watered down" for use on technology that is technically a decade old.
I think Nintendo should take a leaf out of Retro's book, since each one of Retro's games is a masterpiece of its own. Would love to see what they can do on Nintendo's next console!
Guess they're only showing games currently available on Wii and DS, otherwise I would be questioning why Link's Corssbow Training made it when so many others didn't.
For those who are wonderding, normal Nintendo Points cards will still redeem exactly as usual on the Wii Shop Channel; I did so myself today. Since all the games are still priced in Nintendo Points, it seems as if these new eShop cards will just convert to Wii points when redeemed, so I don't see why Nintendo bothered doing this.
Can't see myself using the gyroscope aiming and I definitely won't be using the Sheikah Stones, but at least I'll get to play Master Quest for the first time. This version looks a lot better than the N64 version though, especially when you compare the two side-by-side.
Definitely going to get this game when it come out on PAL VC. I Haven't played it before as it never came out in Australia (on SNES anyway) but I love RPGs and I'm really looking forward to it.
This was one of the first games I ever played, and still one of my favourite 8-bit games. It's the Metroid-style exploration combined with RPG elements which makes this game so great. I think it deserves a 9 as it's easily one of the best Monster World and SMS games.
I also prefer this version to Dragon's Curse becasue it has a much better story, pretty much the same graphics (without the ugly character sprites) and better sound in both the original and FM versions (both in this game).
I highly recommend this to anyone who likes Zelda or the 2D Metroid games, or anyone looking for something to buy from the Virtual Console.
@paburrows This game is similar to most other Virtual Console and has a "suspension feature" which lets you create a temporary save state before you stop playing, so you can continue afterwards. The state is deleted when you load it so you can't cheat by reloading a state whenever you die. There is no built in save in this game, so when you die you have to start from the beginning. That's what makes this game so damn hard!
Can't wait for the localised Monster World IV release! I've played all the other Monster World (Wonder Boy) games and MW2 (WB3) and MW3 (WB5) are two of my favourites games ever. Not really interested in the Wonder Boy in Monster Land arcade version though because I've already got the SMS version.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
My favourite game of all time. Deserves nothing but a 10/10, despite its very minor flaws. Can't wait to try out the Master Quest Version - in 3D!
