With all the focus on drift, I find the JoyCons have a much more serious and annoying problem — unstable wireless connections with the system. Some months back many on the Internet were humorously satirizing Nintendo's official advice to those suffering from the issue, which was to essentially play your games in a Faraday cage.
But nonetheless, the issue has never been fixed. The tiny sensors or wireless transmitters in the JoyCons are fundamentally flawed. In order to prevent constant disconnection, I have to take my switch down from the electronics rack and place it in line of sight with the JoyCons. Then, I have to make sure those using the JoyCons are no more than 6-7 feet away.
Wavebirds for the Gamecube(!) never had this problem.
