@ChakraStomps the hell do you mean "pirate games"? Every single switch game I ever played I either bought or borrowed a physical copy of from my partner.
I really like my nitro deck. I find it MUCH more comfortable than joycons. But I already bought one and I can't play on two switches at the same time so I have no need for more.
As much as I like my switch for the form factor (after getting Nitro Deck for it, joycons are crap), I have to admit that the performance is hot garbage. I can't blame people for choosing to emulate switch games if the only alternative is to play them on an ancient tablet chipset. I would never have finished BotW if it wasn't for Ryujinx because playing it on switch literally gave me motion sickness. I know that the big N doesn't care if I play it or not after I already bought it, but my experience trying to play it on its native platform was so bad that I straight up skipped TotK and don't plan to check it out until I can buy it on something that can run it correctly. My experience with Pokémon Violet was quite similar, though I was able to push myself to play it on an actual switch as at least it doesn't depend on real time inputs all that much. But shadows flickering and models constantly popping in and out of rendering distance as I moved around weren't kind to my eyes either. It's a shame that only small indies run well on switch as they can already be played on other platforms, while 1st party titles aren't optimised at all to run well on switch despite being the only real reason to get switch over a handheld pc. I feel like this (along with the fact that switch is nothing more than an ARM tablet which have been around and reverse engineered for ages) is the reason why switch emulation was way easier and more widespread very early into the console's life cycle. Not many people bothered emulating 3DS when it was still an active platform because 3DS games ran perfectly fine on 3DS, but switch titles are a choppy, pixelated mess on the system they release on. I understand that Nintendo is not fond of people emulating switch, but they are partially responsible for the problem when they keep releasing games that are too demanding for their own system. Either reduce the scope/fidelity of the games or release more powerful hardware. If not people will emulate these games to play them comfortably, no matter how many projects Nintendo tries to kill.
"Imagine if you see modded Mario games which the character said foul language and doing brutal violence or change the Princess Peach looking into naked princess, does it look right to you ?"
Yes, yes it does. It does look completely right to me. I see nothing wrong with that if that's what they chose to do with their time and energy. They clearly have this mental image in their mind already. They clearly are capable of communicating this mental image to others. Restricting formats in which they can achieve that communication is, in my opinion, completely unethical. Your moral standards do not apply to anyone who isn't you. You're free to disengage from the process. But you've no right to impose your beliefs on others. If you don't want people to create ideas about your creation that you don't approve then you should never share your creation with others.
"From my perspective, modding games is like two edged sword and I personally against modding the games since it looks disrespecting the creator by changing the contents by force and it will damaging the reputation of the creator when other peoples who have never knew about certain franchise and when they see the inappropriate modded franchise, they will immediately thinking those franchise are inappropriate things before even realized it was a modded stuffs made by ignorant peoples. And those ignorant peoples who modded the games with inappropriate contents are really sick and pathetic."
"Changing the contents by force" is how culture evolved throughout entirety of humanity's history. Someone has idea. Someone shares that idea. Others add their own bits to it. The idea changes, evolves. Splits into many different pathways. You may not approve of all of them, but you have no right to deny anyone their creative freedom. Whether it's a masterpiece of art or naked Luigi. You don't get to chose what ideas other can have and express. People who think they have some moral authority, some divine right to police what others can make are, in my opinion, really sick and pathetic.
Try to look at your arguments with a bit of a distance and see that they boil down to "I don't like it therefore nobody should be allowed to do it." Please realise that this exact line of thought can be applied to every single word you say.
The issues specific to Indonesia that you bring up have nothing to do with modding and everything to do with selling bootleg copies of video games. Which is an issue that has been happening for as long as home consoles have existed and happens regardless of modding.
@AndyC_MK111 to be fair Sonic as a franchise would be completely dead if it wasn't for community made content. Sega has essentially abandoned it for almost two decades by releasing only borderline shovelware garbage. One could argue that if it wasn't for community made content Sega wouldn't be able to profit off of Sonic anymore. It's a two-way relationship and for many years Sega has been taking noticeably more than it was giving.
@doodlewhizz morally speaking with how trigger happy nintendo is about DMCA strikes they are huge hypocrites by not doing the proper check of what they put on their storefront.
Everyone who claims that it's not nintendo's fault should also admit that sites like thepiratebay were never responsible for anything - they didn't publish pirated content, just hosted it.
