I've felt something similar, but along with it comes the sense that I can't go back - at least not for a while. That glorious openness I felt when first exiting the cave or leaving Great Plateau in BotW fills me with nostalgia, but I quickly want the creative freedom of TotK.
And one of the neat freedoms of TotK is the ability to play how you want. There are so many systems you can pursue that if you want to play the game in a more BotW fashion (minimal zonai devices, fusions, etc.), you have that option.
Is it weird that this is the feature that might finally convince me to buy this game? I visited The Roost every time I booted up the DS game. They just nailed that sense of atmosphere.
Just can't get excited about it, and I was Skyward Sword apologist back in the day. The gameplay and strict progression structure just don't work for me in a post-BOTW world.

Re: Zelda: BOTW Sequel Might Give Off Majora's Mask Vibes, But It Is "Its Own Game"
I love when NOA execs pretend like they're being secretive. We all know they're kept in the dark about games being developed in Japan
