I would like to preface this post by stating that I did not have an account until I read this article.
Like many of you I went to Club Nintendo to check out what the prizes were only to have a double take at what I beheld. My eyes darted from frame to frame searching for the actual rewards. Alas, it was to no avail.
Begrudgingly I closed the window. Now, I have managed to attain some really cool Club Nintendo loot, the Luigi figurine, Kirby coin, gold nunchuk remote, the pins, the character statue... All the sets of Platinum posters...
My point is, this is the most disappointing thing Nintendo has done, beyond the Mario Kart 8 limited edition nonsense.
These games are junk rewards, not because the games are junk. This shows no effort or thought was put into the decision in regard to the fans - the people who if disappointed by cheap attempts start to buy less product, perpetuating a downward trend in sales.
Club Nintendo yearly rewards clearly indicate the reward will be special - What is special aka unique about a handful of games available to anyone with a connection to the internet and an eShop account?
Nintendo will lose more money next year because of this decision than they would have otherwise.
Mainly, Club Nintendo customers typically buy more games in anticipation of these rewards. Disappoint them and many won't bother getting Platinum.
Additionally, those games that are being offered, that's not a sale for Nintendo.
As a side note, Club Nintendo has always offered games as a reward for the yearly cash in, not sure why people are acting like this year Club Nintendo blew their mind.
Lastly, and I can't stress this enough, a Majora's Mask soundtrack is neither awesome or cool. I'm sorry, but are there actual people sitting around listening to LoZ music regularly? Though I do have an unopened copy lol. I do own the original game and have played through it but never thought to myself, 'man, I really need this in a portable format that I may listen to on the go'. But hey, I guess that's just me, maybe I'm the odd one.
I just wanted to state my thoughts in case someone from Nintendo reads this or even cares, which I think takes true honor. Laugh if you might but honor is everything in Japan.
