Re: Review: La-Mulana (WiiWare)

I had forgotten that I added the points for this game to my account about a year ago. I've only played a little so far, but I can tell that it's going to be a lot of fun. Even if I get permanently stuck on a boss or something, I think it will be a worthwhile experience.

Re: Review: A Boy and His Blob (Wii)

This game is great. Definitely one of the best things on the Wii. My only complaint is all the hints, but at least they don't last the whole game. I just have two challenge levels remaining that I haven't yet been able to beat.

This game has a very nice two-player cooperative mode. My wife and I have been trading off who controls the girl and who moves things around. I'm glad they set it up the way they did, and not with two controllable characters (as mentioned in the review). It's a lot of fun the way it is.

Great to see a North American release. I haven't played this in more than fifteen years, but it's definitely one of my top video games of all time. I think the graphics and sound are perfect, personally.

I think this is a lot of fun. I've reached the second boss but haven't managed to beat it yet. The game is simple, cohesive, atmospheric, and challenging without being too frustrating (so far, at least).

Re: Kirby's Dream Land 3

This game is great. The only other Kirby game I've played is the old NES one. If, as some people say, there are others even better than this one, then I have something to look forward to. I think the graphics and music are both excellent.

Yes, I was considering a couple of the Genesis VC games when I discovered Sega Genesis Collection for PS2. It's a great bargain.

I think that Alien Crush suffered from bad timing. Those of us with space issues who had to make room for both World of Goo and Tetris Party just don't have anything left to erase for another big game. I plan to get it when I somehow make some room--maybe when I finally finish Toki Tori, though that could be a while.

Re: Tiki Towers

I remember in an interview with the developers of World of Goo, they said that they felt compelled to make their game because someone else was planning to use their original concept (Tower of Goo) to make a full game. Could this be the game they were talking about?

Re: Art Style: Rotohex

I was about to get Cubello, but I decided to go ahead and get this instead because it has a two-player mode.

I like the way the sides overlap in the two-player game. You can both grab the shapes in the center, and sending a cascade of "garbage triangles" over to the other player can kind of backfire if there's a sharp incline.

As in Orbient, the music changes as you progress, and I think that adds a lot to both games.

Re: Tetris Party

You really can't beat this for the price. The first mode I tried was balance board, of course, and it was surprisingly playable. Field climber may also be my favorite of the novelty games.

I think that the online multiplayer mode may use your score to match you up with players on a similar level. If so, that's a pretty nice feature. Though in the few online matches I tried so far, I either lost or won very quickly--I guess because everyone starts out with the same score and people haven't played much yet.

Re: Toki Tori

I've had to remove several games from my base memory to make room for new things, but this is one that I always keep around. It's a nice long-term game--I turn it on every so often and complete a level or two (or try and fail to complete one of the harder ones).

Re: Review: World of Goo (WiiWare)

This game is really amazing. The developers deserve to sell a ton of copies (and I predict that they will). I think it definitely deserves the 10 awarded in the review.

Re: Review: MadStone (WiiWare)

I think it's fun to see these games by small independent developers appearing on the Wii lately.

I've tried the single and multi-player games now and I think both are pretty fun. The game is simple, but not as mindless as some of the casual Flash puzzle games I've seen. One of my favorite things about this game is how many different graphical themes it includes. As mentioned in the review, that really helps add variety. Endless mode is kind of odd--as far as I can tell, it really is endless, unlike most puzzle games that inevitably end when shapes reach the top of the screen or something.

I'm not sure how much I'll still be playing this a month from now, but seeing how it costs less than a single movie ticket, that's not a big concern.

Re: Why You Should Be Excited About Cave Story

I sure hope that Pixel gets a decent cut. I think that if someone could confirm that, it could help sales dramatically. There are many people who love the game and would buy it just to support him, even if they didn't plan to play it again.

I would have downloaded this sooner than I did had I known what type of game it is. It strikes me as kind of a cross between Lode Runner and Lemmings. Interesting historical details in the review.

Re: Art Style: ORBIENT

I've never seen the GBA original, but I'm really impressed with this game. I'm almost halfway through it, and I think it may have a chance of dethroning Toki Tori as my favorite Wiiware game.
