This game has 7 levels. (including a mid-boss and end-boss.
I personally love how colorful this game is, the huge weapon variety (Different effects from each weapon you pick from the setup screen AND leveling up each individual weapon via collecting multiple floating powerups of the same kind - ex: to level up the Laser, collect multiple L powerup pods.), the awesome music, and the easier difficulty level
Heck yeah, that's worth a measly $7.
BTW, this game has a stage select code too (see GFaqs) Useful! .
THAT is what I wanted to hear: Multiple confirmations that these 4 TG16 games are BACK on the USA Wii Virtual Console! Thank ye! ^_^
I had noticed yesterday when I looked at wikipedia's list of North American VC games for the Wii that the number of TG16 games available they tell you at the top of each system's list had jumped from 56 TG games to 60! This explains why.
I'm glad they're back!
And on a somewhat eerie note , if you take the first letter of each of these 4 games, you get RVLN, or ReVoLutioN! (Wii's developmental code name) O_O
1. Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii does not let you use a D-pad to play unless you use the wiimote sideways and even then you have to shake it to throw a grenade ><
So yeah, I'm VERY happy Metal Slug 1, 2, X and 3 are all on the Wii VC ^^ Perfect emulation of the Neo geo AES versions WITH D-pad support!
In the VC versions, you can use the wiimote sideways with NO shaking , or the Classic Controller / Gamecube controller, or in my case PS1 controller and Super Nintendo controller thanks to my PS to Gamecube and SNES to Gamecube controller converters .
Anyway, 4 down (Metal Slug 1, 2, X and 3), 3 to go! ^_^ (MS 4, 5, and 6) I am LOVING all this Retro VC Neo Geo love!
Ok, I'm not SURE on this, but I think I remember reading that the version of Magical Drop 3 on Data East Arcade Classics is the MVS version and thus lacks the home version's Story Mode. (Is this accurate? Well assuming it IS for the moment..)
Since all the Wii VC Neo games are the AES (home) versions tho, the Wii VC Magical Drop 3 should have all the modes of the one on the collection AND Story mode.
Since I would imagine Story mode is a sizable amount of single-player content, I would suggest getting the VC version.

Oh and lay off Artoon, Yoshi's Island DS is an excellent game.
Heck, I just checked Metacritic and the game has an 81 score with quite a number of the critics heaping praise on the game (and giving it 9s or 10s), and some even said it was BETTER than the original.
Hardly sounds like a "flop" or even an "average" game to me. (It's AT LEAST "good"
I would suggest taking this review with a LARGE grain of salt.
For example, here are links to TWO (relatively lengthy) video reviews for the game, who BOTH repeatedly state how accurate the controls are (except for the occassional "hiccup", as one reviewer put it
Overall, FlingSmash sounds like an excellent 2D side-scrolling arcade-style game with a cute / colorful art style and an excellent scoring / powerup system. (and in addition to a number of neat variations on the standard gameplay like heavy zip (gravity) , mini zip, etc.)
SO yeah, try to rent this if you can or just buy it if you need a wii remote since, as a poster stated above, you get the wii remote plus with the game for cheaper than you would if you just bought the wii remote plus by itself
Oh and btw, if anyone has the Wii Remote Plus, is it heavier than the normal Wii Remote WITHOUT the Motion Plus add-on attached? .
As has been said many times in this thread, Street Hoop (also known as Dunk Dream btw) is NOT crap (Nintendolife gave it a 8/10)
When I think "crap", I think a game I would rate as 3/10 or below (ya know, because it has SERIOUS gameplay problems that prevent almost any enjoyment from the game).
Clearly, this is NOT that kind of game.
Oh and if it's not your kind of game, it does not automatically make it crap either
Hmm, btw how much was this going to cost if it DID come out on WiiWare?
The funny thing is it SOUNDS like the retail release would cost you more, until you realize that if it came out as a WiiWare title, the price would likely never go down and of course, if it came out as a retail release ($20), it will go down (quickly
So theoretically, in terms of price you might be able to pick up the retail release (with extras! for say $10 / cheaper than the WiiWare version (say a month or 2 after release).
On the other hand, it would be nice just to go download it and not worry about scratches on the disc / disc maintenance

Re: Review: Gate of Thunder (Virtual Console / TurboGrafx-16)
Oh heck yes.
The music, the gameplay, the visuals, the animation, the feeling of POWER as you blow everything up, all perfectly done (and challenging).
If anybody wants to know WHY people like me LOVE 2D shooters, this is the game to try.
I still can't beat the game all in one go (without using the Level Select code, which is listed in GOT's FAQ at GFaqs btw), but I still love it.
Again, if you like 2D shooters at all, please give this a try.
Oh and BLESS Nintendo for allowing TG 16 and TG CD games on the Wii VC

Re: Sengoku 3
Sweet! Well, order aside (on the USA Wii VC, 2 came out first, then 1, then 3 , that means that Wii VC now has all 3 Sengokus!
How tidy! ^_^

OK... for some reason the last sentence of my previous post (#18) got "crossed out" when it should NOT have.
Not sure how that happened.
Just ignore the crossed out thing
