@Dethmunk It all started with Mass Effect 3 and Bioware caving in to the rabid fanboys who completely missed the entire point of the trilogy, and who lacked common sense (no matter how many choices you have/make, it always boils down to very few in the end, that's how choices work). Ever since then the entitlement on social media explosion happened and now we have these fake gamers who think they deserve everything without exception in their idealized interpretation of what is acceptable. I'd love to see some of them try to appeal to their own crowd and handle the narrative from their own toxic community, they'd break in less than a week and walk away because of ungrateful swine like themselves.
On a different note, I can't wait for this release! A great game from start to finish.
An open world game can be amazing IF they stop forcing Sonic's speed into the gameplay. Sonic's biggest problem, even with the "Holy Grail" of Sonic games (the original trilogy) is the speed. If you're making a racer or rail-type game then great, but you're not. Players need to be able to handle the information overload and Sonic Team never seems to grasp that concept. Take the open world approach, give him some speed but not enough to feel loose or flighty, and map some special moves that take advantage of his skillset in confined, limited spaces. For instance, an attack that sees Sonic use his speed for a multi-slash attack. His speed remains, the action is contained and controlled, and the player can process what happened.
Use his rolling attack in puzzles, to confuse a shielded enemy by encircling them, or destroy barriers blocking new paths.
Nobody should start running and immediately run face first into a cliff face or spike trap and lose everything. Everyone wants to go fast but I've never seen a Sonic player continue to go fast, they always stop to make precision jumps and attacks, and the speed always seems to screw up development. It only works well when he's put onto a track, and while the game should have them, there needs to be an actual game that isn't 'hit speed pad then hit A to jump while the game drives you forward'.
Sonic is a fun character, but as far as games go he really hasn't had a memorable one yet. Some have been good, but they all fall short of great. Slow him down a bit, develop him beyond 'super fast blue blur', and give him a game people can finally talk about that doesn't involve comparison to how good it is in relation to '06.
@RoguePirate The difference is there hasn't been a bad Metroid game (Federation Force doesn't count and Other M, despite what people tell themselves, wasn't a bad game) and CDPR hasn't made a good game yet. Everyone who played Witcher 3 knew to expect Cyberpunk to be garbage, it was blatantly obvious what was going to happen.
@ManaOwls or you can go without the extra special goodies. It does suck, I'm not saying 'boo hoo', but gaming is a luxury and the extra trinkets aren't required to enjoy the game itself. The second people stop supporting scalpers, it'll end.
Even better, boycott eBay entirely and make that a huge social presence. The will explicitly tell you they don't allow people to price gouge, and then you call them on their *****. Flag every post for illegal activities, make it a crusade on social media. I did that during the PS5 launch (I still got my 2 but friends weren't as lucky so I was helping), and while I can't make a huge difference, it did help in getting bigger retailers to take notice and start doing something. You really want to stop scalping? Start openly insulting and annoying eBay. Take out the big dog and watch the worthless piece of ***** garbage mouth breathing cousin ***** scalpers scurry like ants to try and offload their merchandise.
Nintendo has the best E3. Everything up to that point minis a few things here and there (Mario + Rabbids, Guardians, Elden Ring) was generic, typical, and boring. Was there anything more offensive than Redfall? Can we make a good vampire game and not force fortnite ***** into it?
@tanaka2687 it was mostly generic 1st person shooters. Besides, with Xbox having gone 3rd party there's no reason to pick it up, just wait for the free smart tv app, or use your phone/PC/tablet, or buy a cheap X1 if you absolutely have to. Nobody with any intelligence whose been paying attention for the last few years has bought a Series X|S.
@electrolite77 it's a bad move but it is completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Now if they do like EA or Xbox and have an ad flashing at all times on the main menu to purchase the Amiibo for instant fast travel, then okay, but 90% of SS fans won't even be aware this exists, and if they do they won't care. In a world where patience is an unknown it's good to have some patience. If that's really your complaint, that you have to be just a few seconds slower, then you should reevaluate your life and priorities.
@Dman10 Honestly? Because the gamers EA attracts (the ones who pay their salaries, not the smart gamers) buy their games in droves, all of which support the exact same anti-consumer services interlaced with their games, and proceed to drop money. Supporting EA is paramount to ruining the entire industry/hobby, which is currently happening. Supporting Nintendo's one bad decision (and I'm still acknowledging that it's bad) with a 1/3rd of the sales of any EA title, is like throwing out a plate of food over burning down half of California. Supporting EA, Activision, or Xbox/Gamepass is to nuke a country, whereas the ONE Nintendo game every 4 years to make a bad decision is robbing a liquor store with a water pistol. Don't pretend Nintendo is much worse and deserves as much ire as the others.
Cuphead was NEVER an exclusive, please stop spreading misinformation.
Windows, Xbox One, and Steam in September 29, 2017, macOS in October 19, 2018, Nintendo Switch in April 18, 2019, and PlayStation 4 in July 28, 2020. Unless Microsoft owned Steam, which they didn't and don't, Cuphead was factually NEVER an exclusive.
Just because Microsoft tries to use it's blatant false advertising marketing scheme 'console exclusive' on the naive doesn't mean journalists should blindly support such anti-consumer marketing. Microsoft went 3rd party in 2016, made that blatantly clear in 2017, and even so recently as the Bethesda acquisition made it perfectly clear they were now a 3rd party publisher.
