first off- anybody that compares this game to super mario world 2:yoshi's island in ANY WAY deserves a swift kiss on the lips. with that out of the way, yes, this is the absolute WORST platformer nintendo has ever done, hands down. this coming from a lifelong die-hard nintendo fan who played this game upon its original release when i was 12 years old.
seriously, i'll stand by the reviewer's original score. if this game didn't have yoshi and the others in it, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was a nintendo game at all. the creative level designs, detailed backgrounds, boss fights, music, power-ups, challenge- EVERYTHING was missing from a nintendo game. it was critically panned at the time of release, too. i remember everybody pretty much universally hating this lump of condensed fail in a cartridge.
i know you might say, "but it's nintendo" and look at the screenshots and gameplay footage and think to yourself, "this doesn't look too bad!" but believe me, the game is very boring and devoid of the usual nintendo charm. waste money at your own risk.
@ poggydude: yeah, i cleverly sent her to distract you so i could sneak into your house and make time with your incredibly hot sister! i tried for your mom first, but it seemed somebody had already beat me to it
wow, some people need to calm down here... we're talking about video games, not your sisters/girlfriends, people. you guys don't need to defend mario's honor, this game will sell like crazy regardless and mario will live on successful as ever regardless of how many negative things are said about the games.
my point: nobody is accomplishing anything.. give your take on the game and move on...
Easily the best RPG Mario has starred in, and I've played them all. All the environments and enemies are classic Nintendo style, and while it still is a very easy RPG, IMHO, the paper mario series was much, much, MUCH easier...
If you're any kind of a Nintendo fan, you will love this game. Parts of this game will stick with you forever, like the moronic Wario wanna-be Booster, the Forest Maze, the awesome sound track, and SPOILER finally having Bowser as an ally.
lufia 2, people! this game kicks balls! while earthbound was good, the story was pretty stupid and it got less and less fun to play towards the end. c'mon, the whole ending with the "lets all get into robot bodies" thing... ugh...
Maximo on PS2 was a very fun spiritual sequel to this game, and people were whining that it was hard.. They should have played the original. Hunt down a copy of Maximo and its sequel Maximo: The Army of Zin I think it's called at a local Gamestop bargain bin before Sony tries to re-release these for money on their online network...
EW Jim 2 was awesome on the SNES, I have some very fond memories of that game. Anyone know what the main differences are between the SNES and Genesis versions of EW Jim 2 are?
agree 100% with kingston. i was SO pissed when i thought i saved my game, only to come back to it and learn that i had to start from the beginning of the game. what were they thinking when they came up with that save system?
i can't recommend this game to anyone, i'm so very sorry i wasted 8 dollars on this game, i only did so because of all the positive feedback i got from this forum.
i didn't find earthbound to be particularly humorous, (except for those mr. saturns, lmao!) but i loved it because it was so unique and different from the common "swords and sorcery" type thing RPGs are known for. still have the orignal SNES cart! : D
i always thought chrono trigger was overrated. i missed it's original release, but i played it on an SNES emulator for a solid 4-6 hours, and never went back to it. i'd probably give it a second chance if it ever hit VC, as i did kinda like chrono cross on PS1.
lufia 2 deserves top spot, imo, and is hands down the most underrated RPG of all time. nobody but the hardest of the hardcore have ever heard of it! great game.

Re: OFLC Update - Super Mario RPG On Its Way To Europe
ouchhh... seems like I set myself up for an extremely dirty necrophiliac joke then, eh? either way, GOOD TIMES
btw: hope you're joking, i obviously can't sense sarcasm over the net

laurent? ha, i thought it was a woman until posters referred to him as a "he..."
only morons and douchebags are named "laurent."
Re: Playtest: The Shaft Virtual Console joystick
will this work with the metal slug anthology for wii? that's a HUGE selling point for me.. if not, will any of the other 2 sticks be compatible?

1) Lufia 2
2) SMRPG
3) Earthbound
4) Chrono Trigger
and that would do it for me in the RPG department...

i'm so pissed.. i could beat this game at 12 years old and now i can't beat the first level... today's easy games have made me soft.

Re: The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
should have added: get wonder boy in monster world for the sega genesis if you like this kind of game, it's leaps and bounds better than this one.
