I think the most likely thing to happen is that they'll try it with a couple more games until people lose interest and move on to the next thing. But I'm all for trying, I'm loving TPP.
It's great that the Adventure Time game is finally being released in Europe. I played it on my NDS and it's a really fun game (think Zelda II but fun). Definitely not worth the full retail price, though... That is a 20€ game tops.
For a while I was starting to get used to wanting to buy at least one 3ds eshop game every week, but lately it's been mostly crap : c'mon nintendo, step it up
The whole social networking aspect of the xbox and ps4 doesn't really do anything for me. The entertainment features are also something I don't care much about. I want a console that plays games, I can watch all the movies and shows I want on my TV or connecting it to my laptop via hdmi. Right now I'm just waiting for more games to be available for the Wii U, and will probably buy one come next Christmas (hopefully there will be some good holiday deals). In the future I consider maybe buying a PS4 once the prices start to come down, to play some exclusives and high-end games later in this generation's lifetime that won't probably be playable on the wii-u's hardware. As for the One, based on what I've seen yesterday, it's an all american product for an all american audience, and I'm just not interested.
I always watch these events, I'm a gamer, and I like to know what's going on with the industry, not just one company. That said, after watching the Xbox One announcement I'm not even remotely interested in the system. I get that they didn't show any games because this was a hardware and system presentation, and they're saving the games for E3, but I don't feel like any exclusive will make me prefer this over a Wii U. I do get the feeling they're straying from the gaming market though, I really felt like I was watching an awkward infomercial for a glorified TV box. Sony also didn't really appeal to me with all the social networking stuff either, but at least the whole system felt more focused on gaming. I own both a Wii and an Xbox360 (bought it because it was a lot cheaper than a ps3 at the time, and I wanted to keep up with HD games that weren't available on the Wii), and I think I'll probably be getting a Wii U later this year when it has a solid game library. All Nintendo has to do to make me buy their consoles is keep releasing zeldas and mario karts (and a new Super Smash Bros. every now and then doesn't hurt either)..
The european rewards program is so pointless... The closest we can get is "nintendo points cards" that can only be used on the Wii an DSi, completely useless for the most recent generation of nintendo consoles. What the hell, nintendo?
Now these rewards make sense. All we get in Europe is crappy/overpriced Nintendo memorabilia, . "Oh, so you spent a couple of hundred € on Nintendo products? We would like to thank you with some Mario stationery." : Enjoy your games, lucky yanks!
