@nintendoknife your points are certainly fair and correct and I respect your opinion (thanks for being civil) game freak have certainly created themselves a somewhat un-winnable situation, but my main point is that I’m excited to see what they bring to the table and I look forward to a knew adventure and I wish people was stop s***ting on developers that are going to work and just doing as they are told. But again as for the competitive scene your argument is spot on.

@Xelha they should just stick to crunch then. A whole lot of work is going to go into this. Just by changing one small detail of a game, can create incredible issues down the line. Through in a secondary game with some small differences, then throw in the fact you’re still working on hardware that you don’t have the most experience with. Then also throw in 800+ Pokemon, each with IV’s and EV’s that all need balancing, especially when you consider Pokemon is battled competitively and you have so much work. Something had to give. Smash has what 70+ fighters and takes an age between releases. Tekken is the same. This isn’t even including all engine upgrades, localisation, story, game planning, raid multiplayer battles and I could go on. So I often get annoyed when I see the expression not using “effort”. They don’t just make Pokemon and then you have a game. Personally I wouldn’t mind if the game got delayed 12 months we got all the Pokemon. But these developers are against strict deadlines and deserve our respect. It’s a person in a suit that will make all of the decisions on release. NOT the developers. I also don’t remember people being so bitter when Sapphire and Ruby released. Also who knows what’s coming next year in Ultra Sword or whatever the name is.
Also I work as game tester at Sony and previously worked at Rockstar Lincoln. I know what happens during development.
