@BrazillianCara Parceiro, unfortunately many people think this way: "Sony's exclusives drop in price over time, Nintendo should do the same" or "Nintendo did this two generations ago, of course they'll do the same again" That's because they're not actually thinking it through. To them, it's as of context doesn't matter, which is why they extrapolate such things and are so sure about. Me incomoda pra caramba tbm.
@fezones I appreciate you saying that. And we don't have to be enemies. And you're right, we're from the same country have share a like for Nintendo. That should be enough for us to at least be civil to one another.
As for my initial comment. I've been fortunate to travel abroad and even to live abroad for about 2 and a half years. The only two nationalities I've encountered that had trouble with the concept of Brazilians not speaking Spanish (or Brazilian) were people from the US and the UK. Even a few people I met in Malaysia knew the difference (others just didn't make the mistake). So instead of acting upset about this lack of culture from native English speakers, I just use sarcasm. It's more soothing
@fezones Sim, fizeram.
@Quix None taken. My source (singular) is Nintendo. Every quarter they release their numbers, correct? I collect those numbers and organise them on a spreadsheet. I use this to get data they don't share directly such as game sales in that quarter (they always share the sales so far or the sales in the fiscal year once it's over), each system's attach rate, among others. So that is why I believe where I got my information, since they are legally required to share true numbers. It also helps me not fall for wrong reporting, such as when people were reporting on the numbers of Pokémon Let's Go for three quarters as if it was one. Hope that answered your question
@RennanNT Yeah, VGChartz is a lot of guess work, to put it nicely.
1 - I wholeheartedly agree 2 - I am aware, but after the last quarter of 2019 surpassed all their expectations and they basically reached their fiscal year numbers there, I don't see how they could have had so much stock in retailers. The quarter we are in now is going to be a weird one, for sure. Manufacturing issues, people going more towards digital. It will be interesting to see.
@RennanNT Thanks for the first link, that one I hadn't looked in its entirety yet. But allow me to point something to you, if you look at both graphs you will notice they don't have the same data in terms of source. The sell-through is counting Japan, North America and Europe. Leaving out any other country where the Switch is sold, including Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Which could easily account for the difference. Sure, there will be a difference, but I do believe it's miniscule. And it still makes the article wrong, since she is comparing the numbers from one type with the other.
@RennanNT When Sony does their financial reports, they say units shipped. Which means they manufactured and sent to retailers, but not all of those units have been sold. Nintendo reports on units sold. If you are so adamant to say they report the same thing, please share where in the report they say it
@RennanNT Nintendo always publishes their actual sales numbers, unlike Sony. So the 3.29 million are the units that consumers bought. So the 4.2 million are just BS
@Razer The numbers don't add up because the source article is incorrect. Switch sales are at 55.77 million units as of March 31st, 2020. And since it was at 52.48 million units as of December 31st, 2019, it sold 3.29 million units in the entire quarter. Making it impossible to sell 4.2 million units in a single month of said quarter. Hope I helped
@RennanNT Actually the numbers are wrong as you have almost pointed out. How can the Switch have sold 3.29 million units between Jan 1st, 2020 and Mar 31, 2020 and at the same time have sold 4.2 million units in March?
