Re: GameStop Apparently Investigating New York Store Over Sus Switch 2 Bundle Sales

Vulgore

What GameStop is trying to do here has actually been happening for years with the luxury watchmaker Rolex.
If you want to buy an entry-level model, they tell you there’s an unrealistically long waiting time — a situation they deliberately create. It's all about supply and demand.
They do offer the option to help you sooner if you're willing to buy a package deal that includes multiple watches or jewelry — usually gold pieces, which are always more expensive than the entry-level steel models.
You can see a similar thing happening if you try to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 on the private market. Scalpers flood the market, asking inflated prices because there’s a shortage in stores, allowing them to profit.

I'm not saying that Nintendo is the bad guy here — it's the traders and middlemen who know exactly how much we want these products and take advantage of that.
Even online pre-ordering doesn't work properly anymore. All the websites crash when everyone rushes to click and button-mash at the same time.
Where are the good old days? I still remember pre-ordering my N64 — you simply filled out a little form at the store, and you were guaranteed your purchase. Sigh...
