Re: Video: "It's Actually...Really Good" - Our Hot 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Preview Take

I, too, was very disappointed that this isn't a pack-in. It could have been the PERFECT pack in, and I was considering skipping it because it did seem like just a glorified manual.
But I was able to play this during a Switch 2 Experience event and, yes, it's every bit of charming and fleshed out as Alex makes it out to be. I won't spoil much, but there's a lot of little interactions that make this a full game rather than a glorified manual.
They go over almost every little detail of the console and make the mundane seem special. And I'm just a sucker for these little trivia filled explainer games with a ton of charm, so I'm getting it, albeit slightly reluctantly and sneering at Nintendo.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited At All For Switch 2 GameChat?

Oof, no, absolutely not.
It feels so shoehorned in. I suppose some friend groups that all have a Switch 2 for casual gaming might get the most mileage out of it, but since I just want to play Nintendo's first party single player games, I'll be ignoring it completely.
What irks me the most is how pushy they are about this feature, like it's the next best thing to sliced bread.
Especially since they dedicated a huge part of the presentation and whole physical button to it.
For me, this button is functionally useless. Even worse, it's the opposite, it's a button that will always be staring at me, telling me that Nintendo made a button whose sole function is tied to a paid membership function.
I loathe the C button.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?

For consoles, I will always stick to physical.
It has been a fact that they'll eventually become obsolete as newer models come out, and newer models never guarantee full backwards compatibility.
I have switched to fully digital for PC games, since services as Steam, Game Pass and PC software as a whole always allows me full access to every game, whenever I want. (of course there are some caveats there too, look at Spec Ops: The Line.)

Consoles have planned obsolescence built in. When the PS5 was released, everyone knew there will be a PS6 at some point and the PS5 will fade from memory. Same for every other console. Because of this I prefer physical, so I can hand it down to someone else once I'm done with it and moved on to another generation. I can't do that with my digital purchases, some even aren't accessible anymore at all (DSi/3DS/WiiU shops).
If Nintendo could guarantee that, from this day onward, every game bought digitally will be available on all hardware produced by the company throughout it's lifespan, I would consider it.
Otherwise, count me out.
