Re: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Shrapnel09

This was defintally a solid zelda game, damn near perfect. There are still 3 heart pieces that i cant find in order to fully complete this game, and i refuse to look it up on the internet.

Also, did this game come with a map when it was first released. I'm trying real hard to remember if it did or not, thanks.

Re: Super Mario World

Shrapnel09

I dont know, i bought this game and i also played it a lot as a kid... But there was always something about this game that made me think it was a bit overrated even though its a mario game. I guess its because im always compairing it to the perfect gameplay of mario 3 that i end up putting this one in it's shadow.

Oh ya, if anyway knows where i can look at a scaned image of the original map this game came with that would be awsome!

Re: The Legend of Zelda

this is probably one of my very first memories as a kid playing with my sister, and complaing how much i hated it when it wouldnt save my game because i didnt hold reset when shutting off the power lol. Very fun game, nice and challenging.

I have something to ask the admins about this game (or general public) im doing the 2nd quest right now and when this game was released in the US in 1987, did the map it come with include instructions of where to find the dungeons in the 2nd quest, i see no possible in finding these things unless told where to locate them (you would have to bomb every section of wall in the game eventually to locate them!

Here is a scaned copy of the original 2nd quest map, but i dont know if this game with the game or not. http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/2968/zeldaoverworldfrom19886mb.jpg
I tried to make a vow not to look up hints on the internet for all VC games i bought, but for the 2nd quest i think i have no choice.

Re: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Personally i think the RPG element was the only thing that saved this zelda game. I'm a very big fan of the series and i dont think there should be any more rpg elements in the game, but once is ok and i thought it defintally added to the experiance. Very hard though, damn beating this sucker took forever! i would give this thing 4 stars, however enemies that would just fly at ya and hit you without much warning hurts the gameplay so i would somewhat agree with 3 stars as well.

Re: Mario Bros.

Shrapnel09

i got this game, man i love the multiplayer action though, very competitive! me and my roommate tore this sucker up all day soon after i got it. he is still beating me in the highscore singleplayer aspect of the game though but i will get more than 240,000 points, you just wait!

Re: The Legend of Kage

Shrapnel09

lol, i was thinking about opening myself up to games i havent played/heard of before and thought about this one when i first seen the title, i guess i will avoid it now. Thanks for the reviews guys.

Re: Donkey Kong

Shrapnel09

heh, well let me be the first commenter to say that i did buy this game, anlong with Mario Bros. I consider it more of a collection than anything else, i just dont understand why they needed to trim this down back in the day when the NES could easily handle the 4 levels and begging intro animation, just look at mario 3 or kirby.

Re: Excitebike

Shrapnel09

Really there is a track editor? Hmm i played this game a little bit a few years ago and was considering buying it, i guess that seals the deal..... Once it comes out in the US that is .

Re: Top Five Most Wanted Virtual Console Games

NES - Mario 3 (come on, thats thE best NES game of all time). thats a gaurentee however, the original contra BETTER be on there eventually! Heh, I remember playing it and a goal was not to get hit through the entire game and i almost succeeded till the final boss got me... so pissed -.-

PC Engine - sorry i have no interest in this console, its so weird how i heard absolutly nothing about this thing until VC started up, am im like PC what? And its not like im no yougin' myself (i'm 20 actually) so im no noob when it comes to old school.

Genesis (MD) - Phantasy Star III, a personal favorite of mine and i really hope they get this sucker on there.

SNES - Super Mario RPG! this was literally my most favorite game of my childhood, sooo many memories. Thankfully its already been confirmed. however if i had to wish for game thats unlikely to appear it would be The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse by capcom. Real fun game but im sure they need to write checks for disney to get that game up there and i dont think its popular enough for that.

N64 - Goldeneye! hey man its possible, you should make a whole other article on this discussing all the possible rights issues. If you ask me Rare has no say in this particular game, sure they made it but its not like they own anything in the game (unlike conkers, banjos, or perfect dark). Same applied with the donkey kong country series, so i think its really up to the current owner of the goldeneye movie lisense and activision, and im sure activision would love to ash in, im just worried if sony has a part in this and if they do my dreams may not come true . Super smash brothers though would be my 2nd choice if i didnt get goldeneye however.

Re: Donkey Kong Country

Shrapnel09

ah dk country, i own all 3 of the orginal series and will be glad to purchase it again for convenience sake.

As far as a review goes i would say that hands down the whole DK series has the best graphics in the 16-bit era (especially DKC3). Sound effects where decent, nothing really stood out but it wasnt bad either. Music was wonderful as expected from the DKC series (DKC2, best music in game 2nd to SMRPG). Gameplay is also above average, i like the nice challenging levels in the DKC series, the first one was pretty easy however but not a cakewalk still very entertaining.

Long live DKC!

Re: US VC releases - 19th February - Finally DK Country!

Shrapnel09

how long was there a comments section? guess i didnt even notice till now. well you can expect me to make a whole slew of em'. You remember me dont ya? its because of me they revised their toejam & earl review, MUH HA HA HA HA

FINALLY DK country is here, seriously its been waayy too long. However i am going to wait for about 2-3 more weeks for a few more games and then buy more at once (assuming there are games worth getting in the next 2-3 weeks).

streets of rage... ya i will wait for sequal... im not buying any turbografx games on VC and never heard of legend of Kage.
