Though im a poor college student, trained to scrape every penny i can from outgoing expenses I'll admit, nintendo would be fools to not take this opportunity.
Now, even with the n64 and genesis libraries, NSO would not be worth $60 a year. Not even Xbox live and playstation online is worth that much in my opinion. Nintendo has a far lead in price advantage, but also fewer, generally more expensive games that use online so its worth less from the get go.
Starting off, I'd say that after years of nes and snes games, these two libraries at least double the value of nso if you like these consoles, but seeing as to the consensus in the comments and the poll, I feel that would be rather foolish and drive away more buyers.
If you multiply $3.99 by 12, you will get $47.88, a 239% price increase from $19.99/12 months. $7.99x4 is $31.96, a 160% price increase, and 1 year of family is $34.99, 180% more than 1 year basic. Now I voted $14.99 because thats my expectation of the price increase increase, but i'll calculate based on a $9.99 increase as i can still see the possibility of this option, but not $4.99. Following this model, a $29.99 per basic 12 month plan would cost approx $5.99 per month for approx $71.80 per year, approx $11.99 per 3 months totaling $47.92 per year, and a family plan with the same conditions and terms as the current plan for approx $52.47 per year.
Like I said, I want to consider nintendos interests too, as if we all say it should be free, they'll most certainly dismiss any opinion we form. Whatever it it, barring a double or more increase, Im looking forward to playing Ocarina of time again.
