One of the many indie games that is an absolute steal at its price. Feels wrong to pay so little for both this and UFO50. Can't wait to jump in this week.
We're the same age then. I have a brother a few years older than me so I can't remember a time with Nintendo in my life. The only generation I was late to the part for Nintendo was with the Gamecube as I got the PS2 instead. When I finally got the Gamecube, I kicked myself for waiting so long as I think it's right there with SNES as far as favorite systems, which is interesting as it's houses my least favorite Super Mario Game (Super Mario 64 is number one in my book).
Some days of the week, Enter the Gungeon is my favorite Switch game. How are you feeling about the upcoming sequel?
@Solomon_Grundy @AdolBannings-Laylee Add me to the list of people with that type of experience. This was right up there with Silksong as far as anticipation level for me. Ended up being one of the bigger letdowns I've had from a gaming experience. I got stuck in some type of soft lock and never want back to it. Oh well.
@DwaynesGames I can give you a heads up before I ignore you if I ever decide to in the future if you'd like, ha. Full disclosure: I haven't clicked to ignore anybody yet.
@larryisaman Well said. It really feels like such an easy lay-up for a little good will that they are actively pushing away from. Why? Just why? Agreed.
@cedarhyped I apologize. I could have stated my opinion in a way that does not bring in perceived judgment toward others that have a differing view. I was just caught in a moment of exasperation with a keyboard to type on. I just wish companies would do the extra thing and credit original creators in credits. This goes for anyone, big or small that created something being used by the company. Others clearly disagree with me and have the right to.
I think I've been more bummed out recently regarding some of Nintendo's practices I've been hearing about. They have the right to act as they are going to and they don't owe anything to past people they employed or the fans. To me, it just feels like it wouldn't be too hard to go the extra mile in these cases.
I understand if taking the time to write this out leads others to view me as silly or whatever word someone may wish to label me with. My opinion is no more or less valid than anybody else here.
It's amazing just how many people take time out of their day to defend a big corporation in cases like this. It's so easy to show a little kindness, care, and consideration by recognizing the original creators. It's such an easy, minimal effort way to get a little good will for a corporation too.
I'll never understand the thinking of the Nintendos of the world with things like this and I'm perfectly okay with that so please don't spend any time trying to change my mind as I'd hate to be the reason you wasted part of your day. Of course, this has been a major issue in other industries like comics as well. Corporations gonna corporate, amirite?
I'm curious what led BOTW to get an editor's note distinguishing it from other reviews. Mainly because I don't remember seeing that editor's note on any other Switch 2 edition reviews. Am I missing it because it's addressed differently with others?
I would love to see the editor's note be used in a more uniform way to distinguish these reviews if they are all coming from the same place. My apologies if I have been missing it as I didn't look to doublecheck to see if memory has been serving me well outside the BOTW review.
@UnbreakableAlex I'm so glad to hear someone else speak to the smaller size of the new pro controller. I didn't know about this when I got it but looked into it because I noticed quickly into playing Mario Kart World my hand cramping up. I wasn't sure if the lack of any texture has been an additional factor. Either way, I find myself wishing I loved it as much as everyone else. The main reason I'll probably use it over the original pro controller is just because it wakes up the Switch 2. Otherwise, I would have switched right back. What can I say, I'm a bit lazy.
These are just my impressions from playing. Very happy for all those that are loving the controller and finding it to be a significant upgrade. Maybe it's just kind of a freak thing due to the way I play Mario Kart World. Definitely hoping that playing other games my experience will mirror all the love so many have for it so far.
I feel like the insane number of copies Mario Kart has sold on Switch provides a misleading narrative that it's a top reason people buy the system. To me it's a game that just about anybody is going to buy early on for their new Nintendo system once they get it, but not the game that's going to push that many people over the fence to buying a new system, especially in comparison to a Zelda or Mario game. To be clear, I understand it's a system seller for plenty here and elsewhere. I just think its power to sell a system by itself is not nearly as strong as many may assume based on a strong correlation that can be seen between Switches sold and copies of MK8 sold.
After being on this site for years, this is the first time I've felt compelled enough to comment on an article. How is The Plucky Squire not an eShop highlight of the week? My most anticipated game ever since seeing the first trailer. Cannot wait! Glad to see I'm not alone.
