Ah yes, Gradius... I played the heck out of the Gradius Collection on PSP and Gradius V on PS2. My favorite of the series is easily Gradius Gaiden. Good times!
Jim Sterling has made some very good videos on his YouTube channel lately concerning DLC and lootboxes. He's supposed to release a new video today on the topic and I'm really looking forward to it. If you haven't seen any of his stuff, I highly recommend it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWCw2Sd7RlYJ2yuNVHDWNOA
Rofl. That would be incredible! If, and only if, Nintendo actually pushes forward with this idea that Switch replaces both the WiiU and the 3DS, I can actually see it happen. However, I really think they need to release a cheaper, smaller, less complete build of the Switch in order to successfully replace the 3DS. Most parents aren't going to buy a $300+ console for their 6 year old to wreck. Maybe we'll see a Pocket Switch in the next year or two?
I applaud Monolith Soft for their decisions on the art style. The original Xenoblade Chronicles had great characters, but I was never a fan of how those characters looked. They had great personalities and backstories, but they didn't have the looks. It's been only 7 years since the release of that game and I have to say those graphics aged horribly. And all of that has to do with the art style. Anime-like art styles like they're using here in XC2 tend to age much better. Compare Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for example: while the first one is a couple years older than the latter, it still looks incredible even on GC, while TP looks very outdated already. All because of the art style. Anyway, I get why some don't like it, art is and always will be subjective, but I think in a couple of years, most people will look back at this more positively than they do now... just like they did with WW.
Well, given the pricing of the CE and DLC here in Belgium, I'll be spending €120 in total on Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I'm sure it's going to be worth it though.
If there's one genre of video games I have never been able to get into it's first-person dungeon crawlers, even though I love RPG's. I tried a couple of them in the past and they never clicked with me.
What I'd like to see most is a complete Klonoa collection. But that will never happen of course. Maybe another Project X Zone? Perhaps a new entry in the Tales series?
It sure looks cute, but given all the big titles being released on Switch at this time of the year, I think it's doubtful this game will be a big success.
Given the popularity of the remake of Metroid 2, maybe Nintendo sees an opportunity here to do the same for Zelda 2. Would love to see that personally. If there's one game in the Zelda franchise that needs a remake, it's Zelda 2.
There's still a ton to learn about this game. Previous trailers and showcases have mainly focused on combat. I hope this Direct will put its focus elsewhere, primarily on story, character development, leveling and inventory. Also, the confirmation of Japanese audio would be greatly appreciated.
Guys, chill down on all the DLC talk. There has been no indication that it will be there whatsoever. Why get your panties in a twist over something that hasn't been announced yet?
@GravyThief Well, I'm 34 and grew up with the NES. My favorite 2D is Mario Bros 3 and my favorite 3D is Mario 3D World. It's not just age that determines ones favorites. I think it's primarily the game's playstyle and what one prefers in his or her Mario game. I for one can't stand the bad camera of M64 and the way those levels are structured for instance. At the same time, I prefer my Mario games to have a lot of different power ups. In short, it's never just one aspect that determines ones favorites, it's a combination of many.
@ieatdragonz I haven't beaten Odyssey yet to be honest, but from what I've played, I don't think it will surpass my love for 3D World. I always miss the different power ups when they're not in a Mario game. That's also the reason why I prefer Bros 3 over World. Cappy rectifies the loss of different power ups to a large degree, but it's still not the same for me.
I like Odyssey a lot more than Galaxy, but my favorite Mario game of all time is still Super Mario 3D World, followed very closely by Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World.
Not counting the New Super Mario and handheld games, my list would go like this:
1. 3D World
2. Bros 3
3. World
4. Odyssey
5. Bros 1
6. Galaxy 2
7. Galaxy 1
8. Bros 2
9. 64
10. Sunshine

This is a great, well written, article. Thank you.

YAY! I can't wait to learn more about the game.
I honestly can't remember the last time I was this excited about an upcoming video game.
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?
@gaga64 Oh yeah, forgot about those. But still...
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?
@Manjushri But you never control Mario in that game, you control Yoshi, hence it's not a Mario game.

@Dang69 Thank you, kind sir.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?
@Tingle_The_Great It would divide the votes between 64 and 64 3D. I don't think that would be smart to do.
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?
I voted as follows:
2D: Super Mario Bros 3
3D: Super Mario 3D World
All time: Super Mario 3D World
Re: Super Mario Odyssey is the Fastest Selling Mario Title to Date in the US
Well done Nintendo!
Hopefully they can keep this momentum going into 2018 and far beyond with excellent games.
