@impurekind So, GAME came through for me today and got me a new unit (no idea where they got it from). Wasn't holding out much hope but, guess what? Works Perfectly! Can only assume there must be an issue with a certain batch of Switch units
@impurekind Oh I don't doubt there's something here that's impacting the issue - Thing is, there's a slightly stubborn part of me that thinks "Well, I'm not shelling out £300+ on a console that has issues just because I have it near some other tech." If both controllers had the issue, I'd be more resigned to it, but it's the glaring difference between the two that makes it frustrating.
The whole AV centre is all wired in, cable tied etc so moving it out isn't really an option, though I've already tried turning off what I can. I could try using it in another room in table stand mode, but again, that little stubborn part of me thinks that if I can't use it where I want to, I'm never going to be happy with it I'm pragmatic, if a replacement works, then it's something in the console that's a bit funky. If it doesn't, well, something here is causing issues, and I'll just return the Switch and re-buy it once Nintendo has resolved the issue, maybe in second gen controllers or something. Whatever will be
@impurekind Unfortunately, mine is a grey one. I even popped out and bought a second left Joy-con to see if it was a controller issue, and although marginally better, it was still unusable over about a metre and a half away. Really odd, glad it's only a minority having these issues, enough of a minority to make it noticeable though. Now just gotta sit looking sadly at it all re-boxed until GAME get another unit in for me to exchange it, last ditch attempt .
@impurekind It's not just review sites having issues you know. I've got a reasonable amount of gear, but nothing out of the ordinary. PS4, XBOne, Amp and speakers - That's it, don't even have a router or anything near by and all the gear is wired ethernet not wireless. If it was down to equipment nearby, why would the right controller work perfectly while the left one just disconnects?
@steven45 I've never had to call them before, never had a single problem with any other Nintendo product so absolutely no complaints there.
They've not admitted any fault with the Joy-Cons yet though, they just put up a page for people that might be having connection issues. Frankly though, I think the suggestions have generated more laughs than solutions.
@Nestalgia I literally have a straight view to the switch, about 2 metres at the very most, and virtually no signal. There's definitely something not right there. If neither controller worked quite right, I might think it was something here, but the fact that the right controller works flawlessly does make me think there's something iffy somewhere.
@stevenw45 I think I'd just like to hear Nintendo admit there's an issue and they're looking into it. MS had quite a lot of bad press with their Xbox controllers and were exchanging them (Never had a problem personally), but even calling Nintendo support, their advice was basically, "Go back to where you bought it and get a new one". The fact it only hits the left controller is the strangest part - points to something being wrong in hardware of firmware - the right one works flawlessly
@QuickSilver88 Thing is, I really don't want to drop £60 on a pro controller that I shouldn't have to. And for me, it doesn't matter if they're docked in the grip, more than a metre or so away from the switch and it just drops out
Mine is Grey and is basically unusable. If I get more than about a metre from the docked switch, the left Joy-con becomes unresponsive and then just completely desyncs from the system, right one works perfectly though. It's gotta be a hardware issue. I went out and bought a new left Joy-con to try, but it's the same. The unit is surrounded by other consoles, TV, speaker etc, but seem this wouldn't really be an uncommon setup and a lot on here have something similar. Really frustrating. Going to return to the shop and get it swapped... if that still doesn't work it's refund time. No point in starting Zelda yet either since you can't transfer saves xS

I forgot the aquarium! Damnit, newbie error.
Time to build that faraday cage.
