@Lizuka Again, you can't compare OT1 to OT2. It's like comparing an alpha build to a complete game. OT2's writing, characters, and soundtrack are all amazing where OT1's are not. Using OT1 to make a preliminary judgement is like using FF1 to judge FF7 before playing it. It's no different than trying to find reasons to not play a great game.
@Dr_Corndog You can't compare Octopath 1 to Octopath 2. It's like comparing a mid-tier Tales of game to something like Chrono Trigger. OT2 is that good in its writing and mechanics.
@milonorth Same here. After 11 hours, I found that I just didn't care about Sea of Stars anymore and dropped it.
Chained Echoes, on the other hand, I actually went ahead and 100%'d it with all achievements. I agree that it was bold and daring, and for us veterans that goes a long way.

Re: Soapbox: It Feels Like Everyone Forgot The Best Switch RPG Of The Year
Half the negative comments are just people saying they never actually played the game lol
Re: Soapbox: It Feels Like Everyone Forgot The Best Switch RPG Of The Year
@Dizavid This reads like a copypasta from someone's review of OT1, but it does not at all apply to OT2.

In short, it's bad to mediocre.

@axelhander But Glenn has character development.
Where is the character development in Sea of Stars? Everyone stays exactly the same from the beginning of the game to the very end.

@GutayS5 Chained Echoes by far. It has it's flaws but it tries to be original and mostly pulls it off.
Sea of Stars is nothing but filler and tropes.

Baby's first RPG. The story, writing, and characters have the depth that only 3rd graders would think was 10/10 material.
Do yourself a favor and play Octopath 2 instead. It's the Final Fantasy that FF16 failed to be.
