I understand the sentiment behind what you are saying, but there are countless court judges that would vehemently disagree. There are proper ways to change laws without breaking them. I'm not telling anyone to not break the law since everyone has at some point (I actually have a few things on my criminal record) and it really doesn't affect me in any way. I just think it's silly for people to say to others it's ok to download free games when the company that owns them doesn't want you to. I don't know why they don't want you to do it, but they own it so it's their decision. Heck, I might even try using an emulator one day, but I won't be telling anyone that it's ok to do it because nintendo has made it very clear that it is not ok. They'll likely never do anything to anyone for downloading their games improperly as it would look bad on them, but it's still not something I would go around claiming is ok. Also, as I am part black with many black family members I am most assuredly not pro slavery lol!
@Crono1973 nice job redirecting the conversation to one point I made in one comment. Does your gas lighting know no bounds lmao! Like it or not if something is illegal it is not ok to do it anyway just because you don't agree. End of story. You don't like the law? Start a movement boycotting nintendo and get as many people you can to join in. That's how change is made, not by just ignoring the fact that the law exists. Sorry I triggered you buddy, I hope the rest of your day gets better.
Your link states that it was "fairly acceptable practice". I didn't see the word "legal" or "cassette" anywhere... Also, if you're afraid to own your actions, just say so. You can most definitely own doing something while still being sorry for it. For the record I don't need you to make anything clearer for me. I understand exactly what you're saying. Unfortunately you are dead wrong.
Admitting to breaking the law is not being proud of it. It's owning up to what you've done instead of arguing that you should be allowed to do it. If you're actually breaking a law in order to get that law changed then like I said, own it! Trying to say your not breaking a law won't change the fact that it is currently a law.
@Crono1973 Yes. Obviously yes they should lmao! That's the whole point in laws. Not everyone agrees with every law. If you want them changed then lobby for change. If you jaywalk on a side street in a small town with no traffic you can't argue that because there was no damage or harm done that it is ok to do so. If you want to break the law, then go ahead and do it. Everyone has broken the law at some point in their lives myself included. But, be a grown man/ woman and own it! I don't try and make myself feel better by trying to convince others that it was ok that I broke the law, because it wasn't. I did it, I got away with it, and it was wrong. Also post a link showing that copying cassettes was legal or your words mean nothing. They sold blank video cassettes too, but every VHS movie had a federal warning that it was illegal to copy them. Maybe check your own memory banks!
@Kirgo to be fair, I said nobody was around at the red light, not that you just didn't see anyone around, there literally wasn't anyone around. In which case there would be no danger. You can gas light my analogy all you want. Stealing is stealing whether the law should exist or not. I'm not telling anyone to not use emulators, I really don't care about that. I just don't understand people arguing that it's ok to break a law or a rule simply because they don't agree with it.
@Crono1973 if you bought a cassette tape in the 80's or 90's you could sell the tape you bought, but it was technically illegal to copy the recording even if it was for personal use and even though everyone did it. Very few if any people got in trouble for it, but it still wasn't legal.
@Kirgo it would absolutely NOT get laughed out of court. If you're driving and you turn left on a red light, it doesn't matter if nobody else is around and no damage was done... It's still illegal and you'll still get a fine. Laws are laws whether damage is done or not.

Dude, that's twice now you've compared stealing video games to slavery. Sorry I'm out.

@Crono1973 also I definitely don't agree with all laws. Not sure where you got that from....

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam
@Crono1973 is that why you had to put tape over the holes in the top of the cassette to copy it? Because of how legal it was? Lol!

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam
@Kirgo I apologize. I thought all laws were to be obeyed. Silly me.
Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam
@Crono1973 Wrong... you bought a license to play said game on the Switch.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sales Soar In The UK
@Itachi2099 thanks for restating exactly what OP said in their post. Very helpful...
