@OnlyManWhoCan You’re speaking from my heart, I desperately would have wanted Ghibli to make this because even if they wouldn’t do the franchise justice (like with Earthsea), at least we would have an incredibly pretty Zelda movie.
I think given the fact that all the people who were announced to be involved in this movie are known to make pretty direct, money-making flicks, it’s pretty clear to me that they are planning on making a audience-friendly movie without a lot of artistic direction. I can’t say I am particularly excited for a Zelda story that plays it safe (the soundtrack will be amazing though) and the fact that Studio Ghibli isn’t getting a opportunity at making this is a crime and nothing more.
The difference in horse size may be a subtle analogy for the neo-colonialist approach to politics of the western realm. Because if you think about a horse has always resembled strength (like when you ask about a the horse (!) power of a car). Thus both Europe and America have a prominent horse as the centerpiece of the box art because both regions historically were the centers of representative strength in the world. The yellow-purple color scheme of the images creates a divide between the people represented here, much like how colonialism divided different groups of people based on artificial features. Additionally yellow traditionally represents life whereas purple traditionally represents death thus making the symbol of the “horse” a matter of life and death. What pulls all this imagery into the modern day is the difference in the sizes of said horses. America gets the bigger horse because America is the bigger power nowadays, having succeeded Europe as the major political force. Some really clever stuff Nintendo pulled off here!
It’s hard to describe what kind of feelings I have when I play Mutazione. It’s the feeling of finally arriving at the house of your Grandpa after ten hours of driving. It’s the feeling of enjoying a bite of honey melon on the porch while the humid air let‘s you sweat through every piece of clothing. It’s the feeling of staying up late as a child listening to all the adults talking and laughing and sometimes crying. It’s the feeling of growing up and realizing you now are one of those adults talking and laughing and sometimes crying. It’s the feeling of looking at the wrinkled, loving faces of your grandparents while you notice all the time that has passed and the little you have left. It’s the feeling of home I feel so often and yet so rarely and Mutazione managed to remind of every bit of joy, mundanity, anxiety and grief that comes with being home
I do not like the movies Illumination have made so far and I think from a creative standpoint it would make the most sense for Nintendo to approach a different studio for upcoming movies. Illumination's style of film making is so predictable and it’s obvious that their main motivation is earning money by making cheap movies for kids. The Mario Movie was fine and I think that’s exactly the problem. I mean just imagine the possibility of Dreamworks or maybe even Studio Ghibli making a movie with Nintendo’s IP and I’d bet the end result would be so much better than a generic crowd pleasing Video Game Movie
Zelda from Spirit Tracks and Linebeck are both very well written and fun characters. They interact with Link in such a nice way and the character arc for both of them is great, so I really have to argue for a higher placement on the list
@piecez I understand this and I agree for the most part. I suppose it´s just that other forms of media like movies and music had a more seemless transition from physical to digital, with most things being available in a digital space and only a small amount getting lost in translation. Yes, the gaming industry is more complicated than that, but I think that even games one day will mainly be experienced through streaming instead of owning the games physically or digitally and I think at that point it will pretty much be the same as music industry or something similar. But until then it simply would be nice to have access to games without having to use unofficial methods.

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For The June 2023 Nintendo Direct
I‘m going to be hopeful that there‘s something Mother-related (and be let down again of course).

Re: Soapbox: Switch Is Great, But The GBA SP Was The Pinnacle Of Public Transport Gaming
The DS Lite has all the benefits of a GBA SP plus Pictochat so you’re able to annoy strangers on a bus
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Metroid Prime Remastered
I think the american version is a better representation of the game but the japan one is a bit better designed

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Will Reveal Some Skin, Unsurprisingly
I really don´t have anything against stuff like this, but the female characters in the Xenoblade games do seem a bit oversexualised to me
Re: New Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Showcases Gnarly Master Sword
well that’s surely the hottest link we’ve ever seen
Re: Poll: What’s Your Favourite New Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Track?
I will forever be in love with Mario Kart DS so my choice is not very logical but it’s from my heart
