Pokemon has the right idea here. I am morally and ethically opposed to forcing games to exist only as part of a subscription service, so even now I refuse to buy the NSO expansion no matter what games they put on it. Meanwhile, seeing Pokemon release FRLG directly, I bought both immediately so that me and my brother could play together.
I will only pay for virtual console or similar things, any subscription service is a complete no-go for me.
