Re: Feature: Series Reboots That Have Divided Gamers

Actually, there you go. Paper Mario. Paper Mario is like the series that (at least I've heard) the most hate from. I haven't actually played Paper Mario (will before too long) but Sticker Star is a GREAT game and I suspect so is Super Paper Mario, even if it's not strictly the exact same as the first 2 games.

Re: Feature: Series Reboots That Have Divided Gamers

Honestly, I liked all of the games you mentioned that I've played, even if they're different. I've played the original Kid Icarus and Uprising, both are great, and I'm fine with them not being all that similar. Those who complain about the control scheme are idiots, I've explained a million times before how to change it.

Skyward Sword was a good game; it just didn't have a great control scheme. Nevertheless I liked it a lot, so not really very many complains for that.

New Super Mario Bros. is a great reboot of an old way of playing Mario. Simple as that. I have no complaints regarding that (er, maybe besides the name...)

A good game is a good game regardless of how different it is, although us fans do have some expectations. I don't want, for example, the smash to be 3D!

Re: PETA Starts "Whaling" About Assassin's Creed IV's Animal Cruelty

@RoryLee Yes, and people are going to go out and hunt small birds, hares, and muskrats because they played Assassins Creed Black Frag. That makes all kinds of sense.

That still strays from my original point though. I NEVER said I was fine with this in games. OK? I don't like it in games. But I DON'T care what PETA says about video games, because they're — get this — video games. NO MAJOR COMPANY is going to listen to them. Nintendo, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Playstation... none are going to listen to PETA's complaints. PETA is wasting their time trying to reason with them. AGAIN, I NEVER said whaling was OK, nor did I say I was fine with it being in games. I just said I really don't care too much about what PETA says, and neither do the comnpanies they were targeting.

Re: PETA Starts "Whaling" About Assassin's Creed IV's Animal Cruelty

@Tsuchiya I didn't say that having whaling in games wasn't a bad thing, I don't really see what the point of it is. All I'm saying is I - and a lot of other people - don't care at all about what PETA says, about what, ever.

But, seriously, it's a VIDEO GAME. How many people in the world have gone out after playing ACBF and started whaling? 0 people. It like PETA saying that Mario wearig a Tanooki Suit encourages wearing furs. After playing SMB3, SM3DL, and NSMB2, did I, for a SECOND, even THINK about buying furs? No.

Re: PETA Starts "Whaling" About Assassin's Creed IV's Animal Cruelty

Dunno how many times I said this, but PETA, who cares? You start complaining about all this, but does anyone actually listen? No. Nintendo doesn't listen, and they don't care about you. Sony doesn't listen, nor do they care. Ubisoft isn't going to listen to you, and THEY don't care either.

Look at the facts, PETA. How many times have I gone out and started killing animals because I played Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Angry Birds, etc? Oh, that's right... I'VE NEVER KILLED ANIMALS BECAUSE OF VIDEO GAMES.

Re: Talking Point: The Positive Power of Gaming

New_3DaSh_XL

Very good article. Video games can really improve my day, basically any day. Yeah, it is easy to blame violence on video games, but there's not really a point to it. Plus, video games can take you away from your problems, and put you in a new world to explore and imagine. Video games are like a never ending sheet of paper, if developers are good, they can add some real depth to their pictures, and you can either interpret it as bad, good, or great, like an art critic would a painting. The worlds of video games are seeingly endless, like the possibilities of a painting.

Re: Talking Point: The Slippery Slope of Micro-Transactions

New_3DaSh_XL

I incredibly dislike the thought that there will be more micro transactions, and hope this never really surfaces too much outside of EA. I do think DLC is fine though, if done right, because when I buy a game, I want to have actually bought the game, not just a store for buying the game. In FEA, for examplem the DLC is done well. For a good price, I can buy maps that, when completed, sometimes give me stuff that's harder/impossible to get in the actual game, but is not required to finish the game, or have the entire game. All EA wants is a way to rationalize charging more money for their games. ACNL, from what it sounds like, is DLC in its most perfect form. It'll make people love Nintendo even more, and will make fans enjoy the game even more.

Re: Cross-Generational Software Sales Show The Emergence of New Gamers

New_3DaSh_XL

What's the best selling 8th generation game console atm? Oh right... that'd be the 3DS. And that's sold how many units vs the PS Vita? Well, the 3DS has sold about 30 million units, according to Vgchartz, and the Vita has sold about 4 million units. The 3DS, in less than 2 years, has sold more units already than the GameCube's lifetime sales.

Now, if you want to go last-gen, the DS is the best selling video game console of all time, Super Mario Galaxy is the highest rated game of all time, and the Wii was the best selling console of the last gen, selling about 100 million units, with the PS3 selling 73 million and the Xbox 360 selling 74.3 million.

Going back to current gen, here's a good example of a game that's selling REALLY great right now — and it's not even out in America and UK yet. Animal Crossing New Leaf has sold 78,000+ copies in Japan alone.

My point is, Nintendo's doing fine. There is no need to worry, I'm sure Nintendo will do fine this generation.
