@stevie123c my understanding is that when you transfer your network id it links everything on the new 3ds to that account ... Unless you have already linked it to a new network Id then you would lose it. the only reason you need to redownload it is because it overwrites the new sd card with a your old data

I got my MM3ds console today, and did the transfer using wireless rather than messing about with the SD cards.
@Nicolai It took me about an hour - i only have 2 full games downloaded though
I then went onto the eshop and it let me redownload MM for free.
Hope this helps anyone out?
