@PikaPhantom VRR has nothing to do with 40fps, 120Hz does. It's a common misconception.
I know that S2's screen has both, but VRR isn't essential for properly paced 40fps gameplay, what IS essential is a refresh rate divisible by 40, that's why Fallout 4's 40fps mode works well docked on 120Hz TVs, even though S2 currently doesn't support VRR docked
