@Wool_Sheep Agreed. Microsoft has become a parasite within the gaming industry. Consuming huge amounts and then laying waste to it all. All because they can. Phil Spencer has a lot to answer for. Plus he was allowed by Nadella to spend like a drunken sailor. The consequences nowbeing many, many ordinary people losing their jobs. And the industry being further decimated and whittled down by these companies. They are literally killing the creativity and joy of what this medium is meant to represent. Yes, of course it needs to be financially viable, but there has to be a better way to go about this. Deeply depressing.
@Anachronism I think truly indie studios, mainly releasing on pc, will be the future for many devs in the industry. Get away from these reckless mega corporations, who seem to be wasting billions and then applying a scorched earth policy. It’s actually repugnant to witness. No way to treat people.
What a mess. Thousands losing their jobs whilst shareholders continue to benefit and uber rich CEO’s don’t give a fig. Plus Sharma forgot she doesn’t work at Meta anymore with that ridiculous “billion” players remark.
The next gen consoles will become niche products and these companies will try and push us onto the cloud in the end.
@ThriftyMutt Because once physical is completely gone then we are fully at the mercy of digital only walled garden where they can charge what they want. I buy physical because quite often it’s cheaper than the digital storefronts. This will affect us all in the end.
@SBandy1 Exactly this. Everyone getting excited for this, yet the game is still a hot mess in terms of performance on the other platforms. And they clearly have no intention of fixing it. Kudos for the physical release of course.
@TromboneGamer Well there is if the reason is the engine is different or just much more demanding. Plus this stuff costs more money, and devs like Aspyr have to work to a tight budget.
Some of the people moaning on here about the performance….🙄 If it really means that much to you, then go play it on another platform. My guess those complaining weren’t going to buy it for Switch 2 anyway, so it feels like a load of disingenuous nonsense. Some just want to whine about nothing that wouldn’t affect them anyway. Go start your own studio and see if you can do any better.
Nintendo are in the business of selling games. And physical still makes up a big portion of their market share. For now of course. Whilst I don’t like key cards, you can at least still sell them on if you want. I recently bought a second hand key card copy of Yakuza 0. And the main reason was that it was cheaper than buying it from the eshop.
Digital owners saying they don’t care about physical going away are being naive. It will affect them as well. It now means you can only buy PlayStation games from PSN. Which invariably means they will lock you in and charge more. I buy physical most of the time because it’s cheaper to do so. Plenty of 1st party Sony games are cheaper on Amazon than they are on PSN. That will go away come 2028. Don’t understand why the digital crowd don’t understand that simple concept. And they can take away your digital library anytime they want. You don’t own it.
@RiasGremory Well they tried and it wasn’t running great. Hardly lazy. On the flip side I kinda wish Capcom had locked in a 40fps mode for both Requiem and Pragmata considering the switch has VRR on the 120hz screen. Does seem odd they don’t provide that. CDR did that for cyberpunk. Not perfect of course. It’s all about compromise. It’s not just about raw power. It’s about what a system can handle and how the original game was developed. Not all games are made equal. The Switch isn’t a PC. You can’t always just brute force games to 60, older or otherwise.
I appreciate the honesty. Too many gamers just expect things to be perfect nowadays, when they don’t understand just how complex developing or porting can be. Especially old GPU/CPU intensive games that are too demanding for handhelds like the Switch. It’s a compromise.

Re: Nintendo Music Updated With More Mario Kart World 'Free Roam' Songs
Yeah great. Can we now have some new tracks to race on please? I’m guessing a booster course like before?
Re: Last Chance To Grab These 84 Switch 1 & 2 Games In Nintendo's eShop Summer Sale (US)
I’m still baffled as to why Alien Isolation isn’t called out for its terrible input lag. It might look great, but it’s not great to play.
Re: Xbox Confirms 3,000+ Redundancies, With Four Studios Let Go
@Questionable_Duck Yet Matt Booty is still there. And he’s terrible.

I hate this generation so far.

@Tyranexx Totally agree with every word

Re: Rise Of The Tomb Raider At 60fps On Switch 2 Would Have Required "Serious Compromises"
@OrtadragoonX Well I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and defer to their expertise.
Re: Rise Of The Tomb Raider At 60fps On Switch 2 Would Have Required "Serious Compromises"
@OrtadragoonX Well go port the game yourself then and see if you can do better if you know so much about it 👍

@nomither6 I know right. I equate it with some saying that games are ***** and there’s nothing to play.
