I actually played and beat both games back to back in about 3 months.. just finishing totk about a week ago. My opinion may be a little biased as I played Botw on cemu with some graphic enhancements, 60fps and at a 2k resolution. The game is drop dead gorgeous. I also added an infinite stamina, arrow and weapon integrity cheats which were all pretty useful. Never cared for stamina in games to be honest. I know it's realistic but I'm playing an elf in a made up kingdom. Spare me. I found the environments to be more pleasing in botw. Not sure if that's due to the graphic overhaul or the fact that totk has a more darker tone. I didn't like the underground aspect of totk. It felt tacked on and didn't add much to the gameplay. The sky islands were fun and more diverse. Everything looked the same in the depths however, just different undulations and cliffs. Building is fun and weapon upgrading was kinda cool but the exploration and quest lines/story is what makes it a Zelda game. I was equally enthralled by both games but I have to give it to botw even though I spent 15 more hours on totk due to it's size..by the end, I was ready for it to be over. After 94 shrines, I was burned out and there's still 60 more lol. Great games all around though 👏. Not sure what it was about botw but I couldn't put that one down. Totk, it felt a wee bit grindy and the scope was a bit much and intimidating at times. Not terrible just not as enjoyable as botw.
