Re: Turns Out The GameCube Controller Adapter Won't Be Compatible With Other Wii U Software

Not what I was expecting... but then the GC controller is 2 generations old and there should be other options. Why design a game in 2014 that works best (for a lot of players) with a 12 year old controller? Likewise why go to the trouble of allowing the Wii U to use GC controllers and stop short support wise and have it only work with SSB... Surely some assurance of future support or plan to update for VC. I get that this is a good thing for SSB fans with a load of GC controllers but if your not in the group... this is currently a bit of a why bother moment at least for now. That said I'm loving SSB 3DS though controls aren't as good a the GC, but I'll give the Gamepad and Pro controller a go before ruling this as a huge mistake for SSB U fans.

Re: Poll: Tell Us What You Think of the New Nintendo 3DS

InnerSpirit

Although I can appreciate what Nintendo is trying to do here. I think the concept of N3DS exclusives is a big slap in the face to early adopters. This is the first time I've ever heard of a company creating a console revision that creates new games that can no longer be played on old versions. The N64 expansion pack was at least an affordable addition, now Nintendo want you to buy a 'new' console to play new games.

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Fifty Three

InnerSpirit

53 weeks of Smash Bros news, reveals and screen shots. As much as I love the franchise surely this much hype is going to mean there's so surprises left. I get that this is probably one of the games to save the Wii U but... even I'm loosing interest in this game. Got the 3DS on preorder... but might give the Wii U version a miss. I'll be fed up with SSB by Xmas.

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

@TheRealThanos To have any trade in value, I'd need to trade in now but the N3DS isn't out for ages (actually has no UK release window) because N3DS games won't work on it. So who's going to buy a seconded hand 3ds or XL that will potentially no longer have any new releases ? Plus dropping GBA support from the DS is not the same as dropping future support from the original 3DS. The very least I expect when I buy a console (especially from Nintendo) is that whatever revision they do to the design, I will still be able to play all the consoles games without needing to buy again. Regardless of the improvements that have been made this is still a 3DS. If you want to upgrade fine, If you want to buy a N3DS as a new customer fine but the people who are happy with the version they have are being forced to upgrade to play new games which is the sort of things fans don't expect from Nintendo and I've been supporting them all my life.

Re: Talking Point: Mario Kart 8's Diverse DLC Sets Up Endless Potential for the Franchise

I don't get the purist who think non Mario characters is a bad thing. I've been hoping for a super smash kart outing since the GC and considering that Karting isn't something any of the characters in Mario do in their own games I don't see the issue bringing other Nintendo characters into the mix. It's a video game after all let's have some fun with it. The only reason seeing Mario and Yoshi driving around in Kart is less weird than Link is because they're been doing it longer.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U May be Best as One of Two Consoles, Just Like Wii

InnerSpirit

A life long Nintendo fan but I've owned at least 1 other console since the GC (Xbox), Wii (360/PS3). As my Wii U sits by my telly I get the feeling I'll be getting another one soon. The funny thing is that if Nintendo competed on a power and franchise level I wouldn't need another console. Next gen power, big multi console titles with Nintendo exclusives (that would be a must buy).

Re: Talking Point: A History of the Sexualisation of Samus

InnerSpirit

My one stop shop for Nintendo news... but I can't believe this article exists. Samus' image does not detracted from the gameplay or character. I think Nintendo balances between her image and character very well. I enjoy playing as both forms in SSB and had never considered her sexualised... as even in the Wii U version Samus is still and will always be just a computer game character, purely for light hearted entertainment. Did she need to be wearing less clothes? ... well I'd probably go with shorts too if I was going several rounds with Donkey Kong.
