After 60 hours, I have to finally accept this game is just no longer fun (for me). The slog and ongoing punishment misbalance vs the joy, surprise, delight and rewards that should encourage further play engagement is becoming progressively worse off the further you get into it. I’m setting it down and moving on to other titles. The balance is way off for most players (I’d estimate 80% won’t get to Act 3 ever), to ever get through most of the story. Like ever. Nothing like Hollow Knight— Was this final balance due to laziness, last minute panic or misguided/intentional choice by the devs? If so, it’s a very aggressive stance toward their fan base. Overall a very disappointing final product, and it seems like the devs are still isolated away in their own headspace/ or in major psychological defense mode, just reflexively saying ‘this is fine.’ Make this game accessible to everyone Team Cherry, your ego is your worst enemy. Remember games are entertainment, they should be FUN, and predictably rewarding. Post launch-hype, this game’s rep will not age well unless major balance revamps occur and fast. Not everyone can access pc mods, we love the portable handheld Switch approach, so the base game should have had discrete and clear difficulty levels.
