Re: The Absolute Worst Castlevania Is Coming To Arcade Archives On Switch

Ha well glad to have someone else say it; I was always a fan of the Castlevania series, they were difficult, but not impossible. However I remember seeing this one in an arcade back in the day, and playing it years later on an emulator, and man... it was so frustratingly hard as to make it NOT fun. Yep, slow movement, your character would lose half their life from a mere gravestone crumbling on them, with a bunch of stones flying at you w/ the first mini-boss that you could barely hit, much less jump over. I couldn't even make it past the first level, and ultimately had to use an Invincibility cheat just to be able to play through/see the rest of the game. The limited continues somehow also doesn't surprise me; if I recall, Konami did that with both of the arcade Contra games, and with the way the 2nd game was structured (with your slower/reduced jump, and practically all the side-scrolling levels designed so that enemies were generally coming directly at you from all sides, with NO other platforms to jump to & try to dodge them), it was damn near impossible to make it through the game with only 3 continues. HC's music was good though!
