Super Arcade Football - not the most imaginative name but is exactly that. Intuitive, fun, mixes things up with some unusual conditions but is unmistakably the beautiful football game. Even has a story mode to give the mayhem a little context. And passes the litmus test: do the replays make you feel pleased / horrified with yourself?
@Kochambra Thank you - the red tape of ratings seems a likely explanation (just not as exciting as "because it has a level in it where ..🥶.. occurs!) I need to get off my backside and create a US account, because seems an easy process + have spent enough time bemoaning region-locking on other Nintendo consoles. And so I can try the original before the remake...
A cursory - and curse-filled - look online gives no reason why this game was removed from EU eShop. Presumably it's not the blood & guts because there's no shortage of that in other titles. Would just be interesting to know what line (maybe just a licensing one) it crossed here that it didn't in US, and also how the remake is going to get around it
