"At the start, the production of this project only had a few people at its core, with more and more people gradually becoming involved. Although this number is still increasing, I feel that the production staff has come together considerably to a point—and reaching a milestone—where we can say we’ve started full-scale development." -Aug 2018: Yamai says "Shin Megami Tensei V is in active development. It’s really being developed." and "Most of the demons and characters have been implemented and are moving on the actual hardware." -Dec 2018: In year end retrospectives/interviews for both Famitsu and 4Gamer, Yamai apologizes for the lack of SMT V news, says development is still progressing. -Apr 2019: Naoto Hiraoka ("Atlus director for the console game software business of SEGA group"), in an interview with GNN Gamer, says "Shin Megami Tensei V is still under development. However, because this is Atlus’ first time tackling Nintendo Switch game development, there are many things to consider.
