Not surprised, not many people like backing a small indie developer with a request for half a million dollars... Maybe they should just contact Nintendo and see if they can have it be exclusive for the Wii U and 3DS.
They could easily make it like how MH3U works, play one version on the Wii U, move your data over to the 3DS version and continue play where you left off.
Or have two completely different versions to target different audiences, 3DS version could be more run and gun for the younger ones and the Wii U could be more horror intensified.
They have plenty of options at their disposal. But I think they were being bit naive asking for $580,000... that's just crazy.
"Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii"
Who gives a damn about the Wii any more? That thing needs to be put to bed already, its outdated and has been replaced, why that is even in the title is beyond me.
But on the bright side, the Wii U finally has another game... took long enough.
So, no E3 conference again... but I wonder why though? Not enough big hitters to show off this year? Hmm... see how this turns out, but the Smash Bros. Invitational sounds interesting.
Meh, I can just play Chess.com on my phone via their app. It looks a lot nicer, play online or via the computer and it even has lessons to teach you basic or advanced move sets. This holds no interest for me.
Maybe they're hoping those who buy the 3DS version will want to buy the Wii U version? I don't really understand this, wouldn't it be better to release both at the same time? What advantage does this give to the Wii U, because I see no advantage to this...
@theadrock13 It's so true. Nintendo has the best games on the market right now, and they'll never go out of fashion. They could quite literally kick Sony and Microsoft out of the ballpark if they threw out a high end console for the power crazed developers out there, the "hardcore" nerds would ditch Sony and Microsoft quicker than a bag of weed cornered by the police.
Nintendo just need to get their fingers out and just go in swinging until they're the only one in the room. But knowing Nintendo, or at least Iwata, this isn't going to happen anytime soon.
Nobody would care what the cost of the console is, if it's high powered, has ultra HD Mario and plays everybody's Call of Doody, everyone will be flocking.
@theadrock13 I think becoming the central media hub of your living room is a very difficult thing for Nintendo to do. They've always been known to make games and that's all they're really good at.
If they want to branch into multimedia for their consoles, they really need to step up their a game and bring about some sort of cloud service for starters. Not to mention a more powerful console to bring up apps far quicker. But why bother with Nintendo when Sony and Microsoft already have all of this up and running right now.
I think Nintendo has been dragging it's heels for far too long now. They really need to come out with all fists swinging if they want to be on top again.
@theadrock13 Do what exactly? Bridge the gap between hardcore and casual players?
Unfortunately Nintendo needs to wake up. The casual market they once controlled is gone, over run by tablets and phones. The only viable market they can grab hold of now is die hard Nintendo fan boys and the "self proclaimed hardcore" gamers, in other words, graphic jerks and "it needs more power!"
They need a console that can cater for that market now. But I'm done, I'll stick with the previous generation, I don't like where gaming is going. Full of hackers and graphic/power snobs.
Not surprised, especially through the Wii mode. My best guess is Nintendo will issue a recall and replace them with a more up to date hardware version to get around this problem.
Or, y'know, give up the ghost and create a new console all together.
Okay, after a while, I've actually started to like it, its far more slow pace compared to other online "shoot 'em up" games. But so far its actually rather enjoyable.
Who da hell uses their phone/tablet as a gaming system? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Flappy Bird as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't waste a weekend playing it.
Even a blind man can see this console has flopped. The only income Nintendo are getting is from 3DS sales.
I don't see how Nintendo are going to turn this flop over, third party support is pretty much non-existent, the first party support is few and far between. All you have is downloads... how is that going to cater for people who want big name games?
I really love Nintendo and I'll back them all the way, but I'm sorry Nintendo, the Wii U has nothing going for it anymore. Its been struggling for over a year now and the Christmas period didn't even help it out. Just kill the life support already...
@BlueZealand That's the problem with discounts, you never know when they'll come.
I'll look into Retro City Rampage, Weapon Shop and at 89p for Bird Mania, I'll probably get that too. Finally see something worth buying after nothing for months.
I don't mind new courses, new items, skins etc. but not this. This is a demo with the rest of the game hidden behind fee's, I don't see the difference between this and other dodgy DLC offerings.
I think the main problem with Monster Hunter is, its a "love it" or "hate it" experience.
Its a lot like driving a Formula 1 car compared to a Nissan Micra, they're both on completely different spectrum's. You not only feel the difference, but you also have to adapt and change to the difference and if you don't you'll crash and burn or fail to launch.
Monster Hunter can be one of those games that you'll get a buzz for after a while or not at all, compared to say Call of Duty, where you can jump in and know exactly what to do. It all comes down to the persons preference.
Not a fan of subscription fees. I'll gladly pay it though for Monster Hunter as long as the price is reasonable. Say £10 a month or £40 for a year would be perfect for me really... I mean the amount of content in MH3U easily outweighs a single fee of £40, plus all the bonus DLC content for free.
Definitely looking forward to this, hopefully it'll be on 3DS as well.
I thought Amazon had an issue with Nintendo? Clearly not...
Its good to see a lot of praise for Nintendo, but it doesn't change the fact they failed the Wii U. Such a brilliant console ruined by lack of advertising.
I don't see the Wii U getting out of this slump any time soon. Its not a bad console, just badly marketed... Everything needs a constant advert to keep it in peoples minds. I haven't seen a Wii U advert in months besides Nintendo Lifes banners.
If they don't pick it up this year then I don't see how it will be able to keep afloat.
@Baum897 Have you done a difficulty test between MH3 and MH3U on LR and HR? They are an absolute cake walk on MH3U, the hardest part is G Rank, and even then its still not that hard, but enough to differentiate the ones carried through and the ones not.
@Senario I was actually joking about the Google Translate. Sarcasm really doesn't work on the internet. :/
But still... I'm just so miffed. Japan already has MH4, now they're getting MH4G. Why didn't they just make MH4G to begin with?! The world would be so much happier. Its such a pain in the bum when you're a fan of Japanese stuff but can't read any of it.
@SanderEvers I don't care if they need to readjust the culture of the game. Its from Japan, if you can't overlook the Japanese culture of the game then that's their problem. Just gimme gimme!
Its like last years E3 all over again. Here's these amazing games!
They won't be released until next year. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
-_- Seriously, what takes so long to send a game over to the west? If its language problems, I can convert Japanese into English in seconds on Google Translate. Really annoyed.
Best part of MH4 for me: no underwater fights. Man, they are a drag unless you have Olympic Swimmer and even then its still a drag trying to hit the monster. Its just not fun.
He's got a good point. Nintendo takes a lot of risks by making a unique gameplay experience and this can either pay off or fail. And they've usually always turned a fail around... But I think Nintendo missed a trick this time round.
Doing a Sega will not help them in the long run. The Xbox and PlayStation area is overcrowded with hyper realistic shooters and driving sims. The reason I'd buy a One or PS4 is to mainly play third party games. Most of the world buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games, this already gives them an edge.
Smartphone gaming is a huge market only because not everyone wants to haul around a 3DS or Vita and everyone already has a smartphone. I don't personally see the appeal beyond playing some Candy Crush, but there's a lot of variety on iOS and Android in the gaming market that are free making it even bigger.

Call of Duty, 11 years, 11 games.

It's been a basic fact that Mario and Co. can grow gills on demand.
Seems they're going a bit mad with the underwater stuff recently. Mario Kart 7 and now underwater golf.
