Re: A Third-Party "Secret Developer" Gives an Inside Story of Working on Wii U

Chris720

Problem is, developers have got into a "copy and paste" attitude. They want to make money very quickly with very little effort. That's why they build the PC version, port over to consoles and change bits to make it run at its optimal best.

Throw in the Wii U that is made completely differently and you have to tinker with this and that to get the best out of it, most will probably think "oh blow this." It might be getting easier for the devs that stuck around to get used to it, but for many others they can't be bothered, like EA for example.

Now we could say its Nintendo's fault for not being dev friendly. Or we could say devs are lazy who don't want to learn new things. But Nintendo's consoles survive on 1st party titles, always have, always will.

Re: Dallas Tech Company iLife Thinks Nintendo Stole Its Idea For Motion Control

Chris720

Yo, Apple, someone's using "i" before their name, go get 'em!

By the way, why not file this 8 years ago? Bloomin' patent trolls. Why not get off your fat donkey and use your patents instead, rather than waiting for someone to develop it then actually USE it. No respect for this iLife company, what a bunch of wan- Chris720 is being sued because of iLife's patent on this word

Re: Review: Angry Birds Star Wars (Wii U)

Chris720

Who the hell buys Angry Birds for £40? You must either be out of this universe crazy or a complete dimwit.

Either way, they're stoopid.

Edit: I see you bought this game. I feel sorry for you... I feel really sorry for you. You didn't have to buy this... We knew it would be junk, but thanks anyway.

Re: Pokémon Bank Withdrawn From 3DS eShop in Japan as Nintendo Network Issues Continue

Chris720

Fixing servers isn't like flicking a switch. You have to find the problem, fix the problem, make sure fix works, roll it out. It is most likely because so many NNIDs have been registered in such a short amount of time the server hasn't been able to keep up the pace and register them quick enough, causing issues amongst all the online parts.

I would think by tomorrow or Monday everything will be back to normal. Nintendo should have thought ahead, but hey... Hindsight is 20/20.

Re: Nintendo Reiterates Confidence That the Wii U Can Compete

Chris720

Falling back on to "family" again I see. What happened to the original "console for you" that was the strong selling point at the unveiling in 2009s E3. I honestly think the Wii U is going to be slowly dragged down. If MK8 can't save it, then I don't know what will.

Nintendo has already spent both of Mario's hands, now its Mario spin-off time. I just hope they can recover something from this wreck.

Re: Nintendo Is The Company That Made Me Love Gaming, Says Zelda Williams

Chris720

@rjejr I think most developers try to appeal to every sort of person. Developers the 80s/90s made games that pushed people to the absolute brink of sanity and we found it incredibly fun. Now they make them dumber and easier, or even put in helping hands to guide the player along.

Not to mention the mind numbing amount of FPS titles and sims that are fun for a while and then outdated within a year.

I'd happily play SMB for days. Would I play NSMB games for days? I can't even play them for an hour without being bored. After the PS1 and N64 era, I think gaming took a nose dive. Although the PS2 did try to hang on, it had to eventually be replaced by the PS3.

I don't think the developers are at fault, they just create what sells. I think the consumers mind has changed over the years, but I honestly don'tknow why. What changed?

Re: Nintendo Is The Company That Made Me Love Gaming, Says Zelda Williams

Chris720

@rjejr I'm not saying Nintendo has the largest cult following in the world. Just compared to Sony and Xbox, theirs is still pretty huge. There is no doubt in my mind that there are some brilliant titles on the PS1 and Xbox that people will go back to and play again and again. Its just in modern day society where most people want the next big thing.

While Nintendo's classical titles on NES/SNES/N64 etc.more-or-less raised this generation of gamers and will always be admired in peoples hearts, whereas I personally don't get that feeling from this generation of gaming on the Xbox, PS3, Wii or 3DS. There isn't one game that I'd think I'd want to play again in 25 years time.

Re: Nintendo Is The Company That Made Me Love Gaming, Says Zelda Williams

Chris720

@Haywired True, Nintendo's titles aren't exactly different from one another, especially in recent with Mario. However, they at least try to keep changing it up and include different ways of playing the game, either through new power-ups or how the level works. Whereas most modern games seem to choose the most generic route.

I'm not saying Nintendo can't be generic, they've shown they can be with the NSMB series. But they try to switch it up and do different things.

Re: Nintendo Is The Company That Made Me Love Gaming, Says Zelda Williams

Chris720

@Einherjar "Most modern games get irrelevant pretty fast. They get hyped to "the best game ever" and are forgotten in a year or two afterwards."

Hmm... I find most games are usually forgotten about after a few months. CoD can easily be forgotten after 4 months, until they start releasing the wave of new DLC and then its remembered briefly. And then all together forgotten when the new one is released next year.

But Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong etc. are classic titles. Why? Because every iteration is completely different to the last instalment and different things to play around with. Whereas Fife and CoD (although really good fun) is the same formula, kill pixels or kick balls.

@Tech True, but how many are flocking back to the PS2/1 or the original Xbox? Very little I would think, there will be the die hard fans playing what originally came out on those systems, but the majority will want to be playing the next big blockbuster on the next big machine.

Whether Xbox and Playstation gather a cult following in 20-25 years time will have to wait to be seen. But Nintendo will always be know as the one who broke into it first, I would think most of the Atari fans would have been bopped off by then.

Re: Reggie Cuts North America's Biggest Wii U Fans A Sweet Pizza Hut Deal

Chris720

Nintendo tries to do something right and ends up doing something wrong. They can't win with people can they? Yikes...

I personally couldn't care less. Pizza Hut is great, but overly expensive for vegetables put on baked bread... Dam rip-off merchants.

As for the 3DS Ambassador complaining, that was simply saying sorry to the early adopters. In no way shape or form did they say Ambassadors are better than regular Joe Blogs.

Re: Former Sony Developer Feels The Wii U "Won't See Another Christmas"

Chris720

I think the Wii U is going the way of the GCN. Great console but only driven by 1st party titles.

The Wii U just hasn't had an impact on anything. Too much confusion surrounding the name, not enough titles, awful launch period, 1+ years before the big 1st party titles come through.

Nintendo has done an awful job with the Wii U, no two ways about it.

Re: The 3DS YouTube App Has Finally Gone Live

Chris720

The quality is below 240p, that's for sure. It is absolutely atrocious... I wasn't expecting HD quality, but this isn't even close to being decent. Not to mention the sound quality is AWFUL! Tinny and very low quality, even with headphones.

Like every YouTube app not on phones or tablets.. Utterly awful.

Re: Review: Call of Duty: Ghosts (Wii U)

Chris720

Its Call of Duty, everyone buys it for the multiplayer, not the campaign. But I think this might be the beginning of the end of this game. People are starting to realise its the same game evey year.

Re: Poll: As the PS4 Arrives, What Do You Think of the 'New Gen' Environment for Wii U?

Chris720

@Kaze_Memaryu True, very true. They seem to have hit the spotlight and then disappeared, I haven't heard a thing about the OUYA for months... Its as if people hate the thing already.

It'll be interesting to watch how it all develops next year as the rat race begins. The Wii U is already trailing behind, the PS4 hasn't had a great start and still needs to launch in Japan and Europe, so all is left is the One...

Re: Review: Batman: Arkham Origins (Wii U)

Chris720

@unrandomsam Its a shame as Rocksteady could easily have made this game far better. I would think another Batman game will be in the making soon, as this appears to be the end of the Arkham franchise since they'll be releasing all 3 in a Collectors Edition on 22nd.

Bad end to an otherwise great series.

Re: Poll: As the PS4 Arrives, What Do You Think of the 'New Gen' Environment for Wii U?

Chris720

Vote 1: Use to own a Wii U.

If Nintendo don't get in gear with selling the Wii U then I can see this console being dead before too long. Everyone is treating it as the console in the corner, and that's exactly what it is. Its not pushing to the front of the line, its not telling people why to buy it and its not getting any third party support.

I'm not saying the One and PS4 have crushed the Wii U, but I think it will soon if Nintendo doesn't do something. Its becoming harder and harder to defend Nintendo's... Qwerkiness.
