Re: Rayman Hits 3DS VC in Europe Next Week

Chris720

I remember playing this game when I was like 5 or 6 and completing it in about a week... doubt I could do that now. I think I still have the cartridge for it somewhere, shame I don't have a GBC any more though to actually play it...

But this will be a welcome addition to my collection!

Re: Feature: The Evolution of Nintendo's Controllers

Chris720

The GCN controller will always hold a special place in my heart, it's comfortable to hold and the buttons are all in easily accessible positions and you never have to strain your thumbs to reach buttons..

The Wii remote and Nunchuk combo will also be the bane for my thumbs, you have to slide your thumb down quite a way to reach some buttons, which is annoying in hectic FPS games, but the pointer controls made up for the out-dated dual analog.

Re: Talking Point: Should Zelda Go Episodic?

Chris720

Zelda is awesome because it's long, but there's long and than there's way too long!

Skyward Sword is an amazing game, but I have to sit down for 2-3 hours before I actually get anywhere in the storyline as your mainly going here, there then back to here again.

If you cut out the traveling time, mini-games, heart container finding, chit-chat etc. the game would probably be shorter.

But the problem is, it's not a "game" it's a massive world to explore. I find you only do the story if you want to, I can easily spend hours just finding new things to explore, but pushing the story takes a while.

Re: Feature: Launching a Console Without Mario

Chris720

Mario isn't important to kicking off consoles, but it sure enough helps when he's there. The 3DS didn't launch with a Mario game and it didn't do so well but it picked up when SM3DL and MK7 launched...

I want to see how Nintendo will respond with the launch of the Wii U though... Mario or no Mario? That is the question!

Re: Talking Point: DS Games Deserve Digital Distribution on 3DS

Chris720

It would be good for the rarer games... but with backwards compatibility I really see no point in a digital version. Maybe with the next handheld console we'll have DS games as digital titles...

But as of right now, you can find most games for 5-10 pound... how much could they possibly get via download?

Re: Gear Up for 99Seconds on 31st May

Chris720

Love 99 Bullets and still play it when I get some time, it's really addictive. So no, your not alone @BalrogtheMaster

I might pick it up but I'll keep my eye out for a review first in think.

Re: Sakurai Won't Make a Kid Icarus: Uprising Sequel

Chris720

I hope they bring back Kid Icarus sooner rather than later... be a bit foolish of them to spend lots of money rebooting a franchise for one game and then kill it off again for another 25 years.

I'm sure they have a game in the works, if not thinking about it, for Pit. I'd hate to see Kid Icarus die after such an amazing game... I haven't even played it yet, but I know by everything everyone's said about it, it must be truly outstanding.

Re: Talking Point: The Critical Importance of Black Ops 2

Chris720

@TBD #74 Yeah well... his trolling has got to the point where I have to avoid his posts at all times. It was funny last year but now it's just down right annoying, you say you don't want trolls but yet you have the biggest one here... what kind of bs is that?!

Re: Talking Point: The Critical Importance of Black Ops 2

Chris720

Infinity Ward don't ever move over to a new console until it's been out for a few months or so, so I wouldn't expect to see it on the Wii U. Not to mention they hate Nintendo platforms because of lack of power which means it might be handed over to Treyarch to be ported over. And after their lack of fixing MW3 properly, I don't hold much hope for Treyarch any more.

To be honest though, Call of Duty is an overdone and over-milked series to begin with. However, there is no other FPS out there that can beat it, not even the re-visioned Goldeneye, sadly.

Re: Download Your Wii U Games Overnight

Chris720

I'll have to wait how long to get a game?! I'm sticking to discs... blow that!

I hope it'll be quicker on the 3DS... however, I use Steam so I have a rough idea how long it takes to download a game. Why must you take over 10 hours to download?!? /me goes to sleep

Re: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Hits 3DS

Chris720

@3DSLUIGI Sadly... I have to agree. In Mario Kart 7 its a direct transition... with this you can see the vehicle change from car to boat to plane... which makes it feel more complete and more awesome in some ways. But I'll have to pick this up as well now... the 3DS is bankrupting me.

Re: Mario's Presence in UK is 'Smallest in the World'

Chris720

I personally don't find UK a massive gaming country. We're just happy with our afternoon tea and crumpets... you Americans and your video games. Relax... eat crumpets and drink tea.

butters his crumpets and sips his tea while relaxing in a leather chair It's the British life for me Governor.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 to Kick Off Retail Downloads

Chris720

@ChosenOne25 This is true, very true. I just hope when retail copies drop down in price so do the digital copies. I'd hate to see a £15 retail version and the download version is still £30.

I prefer having physical copies as I know where they are and I can move them on. But you can't do this with digital copies, however I wouldn't mind the ease of keeping it on the HOME menu for rapid access. I just hope they'll keep both for some of us... best of both worlds.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 to Kick Off Retail Downloads

Chris720

I wouldn't want to pay the exact same amount as for the retail copy. And I'm guessing if you buy the packaged version you'll be able to download it for free... wouldn't this increase the likelihood of more pre-owned copies on the market?

I would love to have NSMB2 on my Home Menu at all times, but at what price? I know for a fact these games aren't going to be small and it looks like I'll have to pay the same amount as the retail version, except for maybe Amazon and Play.com.

Re: Analyst Calls for Mario on Non-Nintendo Platforms

Chris720

Analysts know numbers.
Nintendo knows gaming.

Analysts don't know whats good for gaming, or anything for that matter, they just know numbers and base all their logic on numbers and sales figures. It's like a child telling a proffesional they're doing it wrong...

Re: Talking Point: Could AR Games Drive eShop Sales?

Chris720

As Objection said, why not bring in card games? I would love to see a Pokemon rise out of the card and start battling... with the Kid Icarus: Uprising AR cards, I think Nintendo could expand on this and make it a lot better, maybe even have a whole card game within the system.

Be fun fighting and trading cards around schools again... but this with virtual reality.

Re: Heroes of Ruin is GAME-Exclusive in UK

Chris720

It's not even on Amazon... this is a poor decision by Squeenix... having it exclusive to two companies that almost went bust sounds like a ridiculous idea. Thankfully we still have a GAME shop down here... I hope. Still not thrilled having to pay £35...

Re: Feature: Why AR Horror Just Isn't Cutting It

Chris720

I use to find some video games really scary, but not so much now. However I have to say even Resident Evil: The Mercenaries gives me the jumps when those guys with axes and chainsaws appear. It's that horrible sound you get when one's coming closer and it's always in the back of your head when your running away from one... creepy as heck.

I think its getting harder and harder to make a true horror game. You see most films, books and some games with horror and death, and I think overall this is numbing (if you wish) most people to the affects of horror titles. The only true horror games that I can find that would make my blood freeze are from past generations.

AR could work in the long run, but I think it'll have to mature a lot more before it becomes true horror quality. Angling the system right so you can read the card? No thanks, that takes me out of the horror zone and into the "oh, I'm in reality..."

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th April 2012 (Europe)

Chris720

I have no idea how the eShop is a "failure spree", it's got some really decent games out there, not to mention you have to give it a chance to pick up speed, I bet you anything that the eShop will start picking up in a few months from now, if not I will eat my own shoes. The devs just have to start getting out those VC games along with some decent 3DSWare.

There's some good 3DSWare titles, but some of them are lame sauce.
