@JaxonH I had this exact same spot. That way they can reward games that are objectively good, while still giving their personal opinion. Because while objectivity is great, I also appreciate a more human view too. Also this would help with games that are maybe a little more mechanically broken, but that are enjoyed nonetheless. For example, games like Kid Icarus with its uncomfortable control scheme, and ZombiU with all its problems, can get a lower objective review perhaps, but still tell you that the games are enjoyable despite their flaws. 7/10 on objectivity. And a 9/10 on Enjoyment or something.
Some girls might want to be appreciated for their beauty, but that doesn't mean they want to be sought after purely for their body. I can understand why a woman would have problems with an overtly sexualized character in a video game that also lacks any redeeming personality.
Women, in general, are far more often judged by their appearance and not for their character. It's a societal norm. Guys face this as well, but I would argue it's to a far lesser extent. Sure, you could point to the crazily handsome muscular men that appear in video games to counter this, but these characters are used, because they are empowering to the mainly male audience of video games. Guys like to see a strong hero, because it makes them feel powerful as well. If there were to be a game where say, the male protagonist was merely a sex object, the game would probably fail with male gamers. Imagine seeing a character with a huge bulge near his junk, and that is similar to how women feel about games with busty women. And also, think about how few game developers make male characters like that, and then think of all the games that have overly sexualized women.
This game is clearly marketed to men, and it does sexualize the women. However, while I haven't played the game personally, it appears to be that these women are not, merely sex objects, but are developed characters that value beyond their sex appeal, and thus, I have no problem with this game, and I don't think others should either. There are much worse games, movies, and books to be outraged about on the issue of objectification of women; that said, I think it's an important discussions be had. I could go on, but this comment is already long enough as is.
Haven't had a whole lot of time to play it yet, but I think I actually prefer the original. I'm not a huge fan of the first person perspective this game has. I don't want to judge it too quickly though. Will play more later.
I understand the concern, but this is too far. Plenty of consumers use the product responsibly, so why should we be punished? This is the kind of stuff that continues to give Nintendo the kiddie company reputation. This is infuriating. Spotpass is the ONLY real way to communicate, as streepass is uneffective for people you don't see on a regular basis.
I think a $50 price cut along with the games coming out this Fall/Winter will get the system on it's feet and flying off shelves in no time. My reasoning for the price cut is to stay competitive with the PS4 and its attractive pricing.
@SanderEvers Yes, because Wii U can totally afford the loss of its best 3rd party supporter sarcasm. This game looks great, and I will definitely pick it up.
@yuwarite Games can have emotional depth without being "emo". I think he means more along the lines of a character with actual story and depth behind them.
Animal Crossing articles depress me. It was my first AC game and I was loving it, but I lost it at the movie theater last Saturday ... Whyyyy?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Not to sound harsh, but this article reeks bias. We get it, you are disappointed that it's just another DK game, and frankly, I kinda am as well, but don't let that affect the enjoyment you get from the great game that it is. Retro knows what they are doing.
These games all look great and I can't wait to play them. Sure I would have loved a new metroid or a SMG3, but the games announced will sell. The WiiU needs sales, and these games should get them (better than games like star fox, and metroid would. Trust me, I would love either.) Once the WiiU is picking up the pace, the more risky projects can start. The "unoriginal cash grab" games will get the money needed, SO that they can take more risks with a new IP or an IP revival. At least thats my take on things.

Re: Two New Limited Edition 3DS XL Consoles Coming To Japan Next Month
Please please please come to America. I NEED that orange and black 3DS. I have been waiting for an excuse to get an XL and that would be enough.

Re: Poll: Are You in the DLC Brigade?
I haven't bought any of the dlc primarily because I haven't finished the content within the game yet!
Re: Nintendo Succeeds in Wii Fit Balance Board Patent Appeal
@ToadFan I don't know for certain, but I am fairly confident that it is a proper sequel.

@Banker-Style I was listening to that song as I read your comment.
Re: First Impressions: Super Mario 3D World
Not as original as what I was hoping for, but it'll still be a blast, and perhaps more importantly (for Nintendo), it'll sell
