Re: Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD - An Inferior Clone Of An Already Divisive Game

What made the original FFXV so good was the beautiful and relaxing scenery, open world, excellent music, and car/highway system. It's super well done. Also, it has a very light mood, unlike the other series that can get super intense. It never takes itself too seriously. You can be in a major boss battle but when you hit the menu screen, soft relaxing music plays and it really takes the edge off. Not to mention the camping, fishing, cooking, chocobo exploring, etc. The list goes on. After playing through it twice, it's easily in my top 3 favorite final fantasies.

However, the Pocket Edition is much different. Although you can have fun with this game, it really doesn't do it for me. It took my favorite things from the original game and just tossed it in the trash. There is no more open world map, beautiful scenery, or relaxing atmosphere. It's constricting and linear (seems like they would've learned from their mistakes of FFXIII). Also, the major issue with the original game was its lack of depth in the story and character development (you need DLC for that), but the Pocket Edition cuts out more story to make it even shallower. For those reasons, to me that ruins it. Like really, really ruins it.

Overall here's my rating:
Original Final Fantasy XV - 9.2/10
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition - 5.1/10
