Aww nooo, not my precious Nintendo!
You can't say anything bad about my favorite company or my cute little creatures that are, of course, 100% original.

Come on… learn to do some research before throwing around that “originality” argument like it means something. Go look at the games that came before Pokémon and figure out who really came up with these ideas.
But alright, since I’m feeling generous, let me save you some time. Clearly, some of you are out here running on low battery upstairs.
Honestly, "fanboy" should be considered a medical condition. It just fits.

=====================================================

Shin Megami Tensei / Megami Tensei
Year: 1987 (NES)
Developer: Atlus

Concept:
You encounter demons in the game world.
You can negotiate with them, recruit them, and use them in battle.
You can even fuse them into stronger versions.
All of this was happening long before Pokémon was even a thing.

Easily the clearest example of creature capture and battle mechanics before Pikachu got a passport.

Dragon Quest V
Year: 1992 (Super Famicom)
Developer: Chunsoft / Enix

Concept:
Some monsters you fight can join your team.
They gain XP, level up, and fight alongside you.

It wasn’t even the game’s main mechanic, and it still did it four years before Pokémon Red/Green.

So tell me, who brought turn-based battles to consoles first?
Was it sweet little Nintendo?

Dragon Quest
Release date: May 27, 1986 (NES/Famicom)
Importance: Widely recognized as the first Japanese console RPG with turn-based battles and open-world exploration.
It was inspired by PC games like Ultima and Wizardry, but adapted brilliantly for Japanese players.

And since I know some of y’all can’t even understand a basic paragraph, I’ll just leave this here for you to admire Game Freak’s "unmatched creativity":

To wrap it all up: the gaming industry evolves by building on ideas from others.
If you ask me, Pocketpair’s only real mistake was getting too close visually to a few Pokémon.
Besides that, they did what literally everyone does, even Nintendo.
They grabbed good ideas, mashed them together, and built something unique.

Palworld borrowed from Pokémon, sure. It borrowed from other games too. And it combined all of that into a fresh, original experience.

Now tell me: where else can you capture creatures, store them in spheres, ride them, fight with them, build a base, and automate your life with their help?
Exactly. Only in Palworld.

And for that one creature out there mumbling that the Pals were made with AI... maybe they were.
Pocketpair deserves a freakin’ medal.
Because if they pulled that off back when generative AI could barely generate a potato, then they are absolute beasts.

But since I wasn't there, and there's no proof that they used it or didn't use it, and since I'm not sick enough to be a Pocketpair Fanboy, I can't say for sure.
