@belmont If you take that approach with physical media then your effectively classing the majority of physical media obsolete. What about games which released in an era before patches? Are they obsolete?
Sometimes games get patches after a game is released as an unfinished product, or sometimes bugs get ironed out.
But ultimately owning a physical copy of the game (unless you are a PC gamer) is the way to go. Because this way you have the title forevermore despite the fact that it’s usually the original build of the game.
Sometimes the builds of games which contain bugs and errors (which only get preserved physically) become more collectible that revised versions updated on cartridges.
Your argument is based on a digital version being superior as the title will likely need further updates. But even if this is the case, why wouldn’t a gamer won’t to own the original build physically (which would still be able to download updates).
Your argument makes no sense. If you pay £15 for the title digitally and I pay £15 for it physically, I can experience the original build and update the game at my leisure - I also get the added bonus of physically owning a tangible product that I can resell or display.
@belmont Clearly you don’t understand how cartridge-based games work mate. The downloadable versions are the ones which become obsolete, or get delisted.
If you get the cartridge it works for as long as the cartridge is in one piece. Of course you have to download updates etc, but having the cartridge means you have a playable build of the game for as long as you want.
@WaltherP99 With all due respect, but what planet do you live on my friend?! Sony has no exclusives or good IP!? Let’s see: Gran Turismo, God of War, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, Wolverine (coming soon), Astrobot, Horizon. Then there’s a ton of dormant IP: Killzone, Infamous, Sly Cooper, Resistance.
The lists could go on. None of these titles match COD levels, truly only GTA can reach those heights also. But Sony has plenty of awesome IP, exclusives and games to draw from.
Some could argue that Sony is only second to Nintendo when it comes to exclusives.
I would at least like a physical version. I specifically went to great lengths to get Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon imported, purely because I prefer physical copies most of the time!

Re: Nintendo And HAL Laboratory Have A "Variety Of Projects" Planned For Kirby's 30th Birthday Bash
I wouldn’t be surprised if they release another Game & Watch - plenty of Kirby games that would be right at home on one.
