Re: Zelda Producer Responds To Fans Who Want A More "Traditional Linear" Adventure

I wasn't too keen on BotW, but man, I absolutely loved TotK. I do wish we could get the best of both worlds and have some more structure. What he's missing is that being "limited" allows for better narrative, better progression, and better dungeon designs. You don't have to design everything to be accessible at all times, so you can do more interesting things.

Man, I'm just loving Sea of Stars. I haven't played too many JRPGs, but I will definitely checking more of them out.

I love the innovations to the turn-based battles, like timing for attacks and defense, the way magic skills take input, etc. I really like how mp recharges when you attack, as it gives a nice flow to the battles.

The exploration is a lot of fun, too. Mixing in some light platforming and puzzling makes it great, and maybe the best of all, no random battles! It's so much better having the enemies on the map. I haven't played it, but I know Chrono Trigger does something similar, so that will be next on my list, I think.
