The Last Worker, a first-person narrative adventure from developer Wolf & Wood and writer/director Jörg Tittel, has been on our radar for a while now and it's finally got a release date — 30th March.

With a star-studded voice cast including (hello to) Jason Isaacs and the brilliant Zelda Williams — a certified 'top pal of Nintendo' if ever there was one — it's shaping up to be a slyly hilarious take on an automated, dystopian future that many people may find alarmingly familiar already.

Taking control of Kurt, the eponymous last (human) worker in a distribution warehouse otherwise run by robots for the world's biggest online retailer, it's a game that's already broken out of its box, so to speak, having been selected and showcased at the Venice Film Festival last year — the only video game to feature at the prestigious cinematic event.

Despite all the Hollywood and more recent VR-based excitement surrounding the game, (it's launching on all platforms, including PSVR2 and Quest 2), Tittel and publisher Wired Productions have been keen to stress that the Switch version will be receiving just as much love and attention as the snazzier hardware — perhaps a little more, in fact.

To that end, Wired has sent us this exclusive and extended look at the game running on your common-or-garden Nintendo Switch. Take a look at the 14-minute beta gameplay vid above to see some never-before-seen parts of the game's opening areas and get a better sense of what this particular package contains.

The Last Worker launches on Switch eShop on 30th March for $19.99 / £15.99, and it is up for pre-load on the US and European Nintendo Stores, with a 20% pre-order discount. There's also a physical edition — the 'Jüngle Pronto Edition' — available for pre-order (actually, it's more of a 'register your interest'-style affair) from Wired Productions' store, although there's no pricing available yet.
