The Last Worker was revealed for Switch and various other platforms earlier this year. Published by Wired Productions, it's an intriguing project being developed by Jörg Tittel and a talented team at Wolf & Wood, a studio highly regarded for its VR projects.

Very little has been revealed about the game, but you can get an idea of what it'll be all about from the PR description below.

Releasing on all platforms in 2022, The Last Worker is a narrative adventure centred around our struggle in an increasingly automated and dehumanizing world. Set in a lonely, oppressive but strangely beautiful environment, The Last Worker is a unique blend of first-person narrative, work simulation and stealth strategy game play. Combining a hand-crafted art style with uniquely immersive gameplay mechanics in an epic setting, the game delivers an emotional, thought provoking and comedic story with rich characters performed by an all-star cast.

The Last Worker's early reputation has now grown further, as it has been selected for the prestigious 78th Venice Film Festival, which runs from 1st to 11th September. It'll compete for a Golden Lion in the VR Expanded category and is the only video game to be included; its first chapter will be shown to jury members and accredited attendees (using Oculus) at the festival.

We spoke at length with Jörg Tittel about the game earlier this year; he outlined the bold ambitions for the project, his thoughts on the place of gaming in the arts, his optimism for the Switch experience of the game and more besides.

We can expect to learn more about this title in September.
