I would love them, but the constant fullprices of Nintendo is something I really hate with these cheap ports.

Yeah because I really want to play them on a handheld. And playing it on the Wii U gamepad doesn't count since you have to stay near the console

I hope they are still $50 each like on the Wii U, but maybe $60 each because of the switch price standard. I don’t they will be $70 until there is a 4K uprez or switch pro version.

Considering that Wind Waker in particular has only released on two of Nintendo’s worst selling consoles, I think a switch port would be an amazing chance for the many MANY switch owners who never touched a GameCube or Wii U

Of course I want them! Playing the WiiU remasters on the way will be simply fantastic. Two of the best Zeldas I've played.

Edit: I played both these games to death. Wind Waker was too easy and the sailing was BORING. Twilight Princess had much better dungeons but the wolf sections dragged the whole product down. I still say, True Form Midna, should’ve been a Smash character, but I digress…

$60 for an another old Zelda game is a bit much, but in the end it’s still a good value for me. I know I’ll play any of the rereleases to completion, enjoy myself again, and for me that’s worth the money. Especially Wind Waker 😁

It’s bad enough there were multiple articles about Goldeneye’s announcement being imminent, we all know what happened then. Absolutely, bring as much of the Wii U library over to the Switch as possible. XCX is my most wanted but that's clearly not happening for sometime given XC3 has DLC throughout 2023.

Only Wii U port I really want right now is MH3U...I have the 3DS version, but, ugh...that c-stick nub thing on the New model is a pain to deal with sometimes.

I'd take TP port for sure, I haven't played it since release, I don't remember exactly loving the game but I'd be up for a revisit nonetheless, just rather not deal with the Wii motion controls or the Wii U just in general and the GC version is version is expensive as all hell.

As a Wii U owner, I got to complete both very recently. With the way the world is at the moment I’m being a little more discerning about my gaming purchases so I can spend all my cash on sweets and hats instead.

The games I have bought this year: Arceus, Triangle Strategy, Kirby, and Xenoblade 3 have all been so good and kept me amused. At the moment I’ve only got my eye on Bayonetta 3 to round out the year. That may change.

I'd rather a remake instead of a remaster for OoT and MM.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't keep charging 50 quid each time. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are now on 3 different consoles. Why don't they remake other Zelda titles? Link's Awakening proved just how fresh they could make an older game feel. Remake Minish Cap or the Oracle games. Those would be worth dropping the cash on.

I may have Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. But I would pay again for the Switch versions of both games. And not just them.

I would also pay for other games ported to Nintendo Switch just for the hell of it. Dragon Age, Final Fantasy VII Remake(If SquareEnix pulls it off), Fallout 3, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid: Samus Returns, Super Mario Galaxy 2, the 3DS versions of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Final FAntasy 1-6 Pixel Remasters, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, and others to name a few.

@K1N6AC3 a remake of OoT?!?! Good Lord, yes! For me, that game has still yet to be beaten. If BotW had real dungeons and memorable boss battles, I’d give it the crown

I wouldn't buy them since I already have both the originals and the remakes but I don't see anything wrong with them coming to Switch. Plenty of people haven't played them.

I want them. I already own both on the Wii U (or used to: I sold off TPHD at some point, and kept WWHD), but I've come to accept I just don't like playing games on Wii U nearly as much as I do on Switch.

Doubt I'd buy them any time soon, though.

I last played through Wind Waker HD about two weeks ago and was already planning to replay Twilight Princess right after when the rumor mill started up and I'd still drop the money on them without hesitation.

I mean, I'd like ...something, at least. In terms of core Mario and Zelda stuff (which is the main Nintendo- related draw for me personally), it's been as barren as the Sahara desert lately. And no, Ubisoft's annoying rabbids and the cheap, unfinished sports games don't count. Last time I had something new to be genuinely hyped for was Mario Party last year (which is still awesome, though could use some DLC boards). I'd gladly take a remake at this point, but I would love a serious upgrade to the Switch Online retro selection even more.

I have Twilight Princess HD on Wii U, but I'd gladly get it again for Switch. Some of my favorite Zelda dungeons are here (the sky temple and it's boss are incredible) and I just love the overall atmosphere of the game.

Wind Waker I'd pass on. I replayed the HD version last year and the sailing just kills it for me

If the Switch was any other console I wouldn't really care since I already have every version of both games. Playing them on the go sounds amazing though, so they're at the top of my "wanted ports" list.

Wind Waker handheld sounds great to me. I have every version of both, so I'm not hyped, but if Nintendo somehow gets the price right...

I don't particularly care if they get ported or not, I have WWHD and its a fine game. What i do care about is how much they charge, and it is almost going to be the full retail price of 60 bucks/50 quid, going by the skyward sword port a while back. Same goes for all these rumoured gamecube ports/semi-remasters that have been going around recently. All gonna be full price, regardless of if they are a straight port, an HD upgrade, or a full on remake.

Yes I want them. Wind Waker is one of my favorite games of all time along with Mario 64 and Pokémon Emerald. Twilight Princess is a close contender as well. Being able to play them on my Switch that’s already hooked up AND on the go would be awesome for me.

Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game (even more than Breath of the Wild), and I hate that I can't take it on the go without packing up my Wii U (I only have it on Wii, but due to a lightning strike that hit our house and fried our Wii, I have to use my Wii U to play Wii games). So a Switch port would be lovely for both games. Throw in Genshin Impact, as well, and I'll start playing Switch again.

@Joeynator3000 I’d love to see Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate come to the Switch. And if they really wanted to make me happy, they could optimize 4 Ultimate for consoles and throw that on the Switch as well. I love the 3DS but it would be nice to play the game on a nicer display with better controls.

I’ll likely get them if the come over but wiiu was the best system for Zelda games imo so I would likely replay them there. I would prefer other remakes though like minish cap. I prefer remakes/enhancements to BC and enjoy the switch approach.

I wish Nintendo would focus on backwards compatibility as they make games. I know a lot of people like new gimmicks of their consoles, however, it's a shame to me that the previous HD remakes are potentially stuck on WiiU as well as so many other Zelda or other games being stuck on certain consoles. Also, I don't love having to buy games over and over if I want them on the newest console.
It was amazing getting a Series X and playing older games with no load times and just having almost everything on one console. PC is the same way. I'd love to play the 3D remake of Ocarina (obviously in 2D) or Link Between Worlds on Switch. Though the Switch has been great for me, I buy less and less for it because I'm assuming that my purchases are stuck on that console/generation forever. I'd buy way more games on Switch if I knew they'd carry over to next gen.

I'd rather see Nintendo announce brand new games. A massive problem I've had for most of my time as a Switch owner is constantly getting ports of older games that cost more. I've been incredibly happy with Switch this year and that's because almost every game has been a brand new release. I feel like a lot of people on Switch just want old games released on it while I'm more interested in getting new unique experiences, that's why I buy a Nintendo console. Not that Zelda is bad but it's not like these games haven't been re-released before. At least Skyward Sword got it off the Wii and allowed it playable without motion controls.

Where is the option for “I have them both on Wii U but I’d happily buy one or both of them again on Switch.” That would be the camp I’d fall in.

Even if Wind Waker's art style holds up the best of any 3D Zelda, its gameplay holds up the worst, even after the improvements in the HD version. And even though I love Twilight Princess, I've already bought it twice, and the changes in that HD version served more to highlight its graphical shortcomings than fix them. If they do a double pack, I'll probably grab it, but otherwise, they'll be sitting at the bottom of my wishlist.

This happened before, the hype from a "reliable" source about the legendary switch ports for these games. The same has happened with the Metroid Prime trilogy, a lot of sources almost swore we would get them for sure years ago.
I'll be really happy if they happen, but I'll keep business as usual until an official announcement.

I'd buy both at full price. I own Wind Waker HD on Wii U but digitally, I'd like a physical copy of the HD version on Switch. I didn't buy Twilight Princess HD and I only have the Wii version, so I'd like the superior GameCube port physically too.

If these are announced in the next Direct and the next Direct gives BOTW2 a date within its current Spring 2023 window, I'll buy at least one of these two ports if they're real. I'm leaning toward Twilight Princess if that occurs since I do have Wind Waker HD on the Wii U not yet played.

I have played these two games so many times already.

Would it be cool? Yeah, but I have already fully completed both of those games and have played them regularly multiple times and as the years go by I have found myself wanting to replay older games less and less as I only have so much time and would rather use that time having new experiences.

I have been enjoying jumping into game types that I have much less familiarity with, it has renewed my enjoyment of gaming quite a bit.

Put me in the camp of: I have them already, but want them to be available for others.

Remakes as long as it's Re-mastered to work and look better on Switch then YES.

I know it's unlikely the case but I don't want to have TP or WW this Fall if it comes at the cost of a BOTW delay. If TP/WW are coming out because BOTW is delayed, then that is fine.

The Wind Waker HD on the Wii U felt like the definitive way to play that game. They made the best use of the GamePad and made the art style even more colourful than before. I'm not sure how well I would enjoy a Switch port due to the lack of a second screen.

Twilight Princess HD, on the other hand, needs a bit of a facelift. I'm not particularly happy with how that one was handled, with music cutting out and strange changes here and there. The Wii U GamePad was a complete afterthought, so I honestly would welcome a port. Plus, it would solve the issue with BotW and the Wolf Link amiibo.

I will definitely buy them as they are the only 2 Zelda games I’ve never played as I didn’t have the systems they were on.

I've bought TP twice (hooray for regions on GC and Wii) and WW on GC, so am happy to have them on the Switch with the Wii U versions, but with a contemporary update. You would hope that they will not be full price.

However, this does lead into the VC and having a container program to be able to play them on current machines.

I already have both on Wii U, but Wind Waker HD dropped support for inverted Y axis, so is unplayable for me. Fingers crossed they fix this with a Switch port as it's my favourite pre-BOTW 3D Zelda game and I'd love to finally play the updated version of it.

I have both. And don’t see value in myself buying one that removes the Gamepad support, which goes great ways into making the game feel better. Much like Skyward Sword HD, this would be a pass.

I've only played Wind Waker and am only mildly interested in playing Twilight Princess. While not a bad game I'm not paying full price to play it again.

This sort of game would be free on any other console either through backwards compatibility or as part of their online service.

I do want them but I would want them to be a double pack game (or 2 cartridges in one pack) and not sold each and be at the €60 price. But that would never happen.

I'm frustrated that Nintendo are clearly grinding out the release slate to cover the lack of new hardware. Windwaker and Twilight Princess have been on the cards for some time now, but where is a brand new 2D Zelda adventure for the Switch?

The ports and remakes are great content that I'll always appreciate, but NOT in place of new content.

The Switch is a huge success, and Covid has obviously played a fundamental role in both hardware and software progress/decisions but the fact we are looking forward to the promise of yet another old Zelda game coming to Switch ahead of...

Am I being unreasonable to find that a pretty shoddy circumstance given the enormous success of Switch?

Seems to me Nintendo are holding content back for whatever comes next - when the world is in a position to actually be able to deliver the new hardware.

I'm not into Zelda games, but if people are willing to pay $60/60 €, I say port them. Personally I would rather have a Switch successor announced (and preferably launched next spring).

I've sort of given up on the Steam Deck as there's to many games in my Steam library there's not compatible with it.

I might get one used at some point though as there's actually quite a lot for sale at my local Craig's List (still at relatively high prices - but it seems they're slowly coming down).

Yeah, I mean it would be really neat to have such a massive collection of Zelda on one console. I don't want to buy Wind Waker for the third time, but I'd be kidding myself to say I wouldn't. Twilight Princess I could easily pass up, it was worth playing once back on the Wii and I fell asleep on more than one occasion trying to replay the HD version.

But if anything I'm wishing for a collection of the GB/GBC/GBA Zelda games on Switch. Including the GBA Link to the Past and NES ports. I want it all.

The last time they appeared on the Wii U they sold around 3.4 million copies, So for most of the Switch userbase these will be new titles, and considering how well Mario 3D collection sold it would make sense for Nintendo to release these Zelda ports.

Just hope it's not part of another Breath Of The Wild 2 delay announcement.

I have both on WiiU, but WWHD was so good that I would like to play it again on the go on Switch. TPHD was not as good, so only if they are bundled I would play it again.

If it's a double pack, then I'll probably buy it. I still have WW and TP on GC and Wii(respectively) and the Wii U remasters, but having these games on the go would be nice. These games are sooo good, so I wouldn't mind triple dipping.

Rumours are BS regardless of whether they proceed to coincide with reality, and I can't claim to be itching for either game (while still on Zelda 2), especially to "tide me over until BotW2" which I'm not particularly hungry for either. But in general, why wouldn't I want these ports? And why should I be tired of getting "fobbed off" with the most portable and QoL incarnations of old games I've never played? All my alternatives require being chained to a TV at home, lugging around a laptop, tinkering with a holder gamepad at the mercy of Android emulators (I've actually got one now, but it's not very wieldy, especially with flip cases involved) or buying a base Steamdeck at the price of an Aya Neo - as you might guess, I'll take a Switch port over any of these any day.

If Nintendo does port these remasters to Switch, they should cost $40 unless there's an amiibo included. These games cost $50 at launch on Wii U, and if Nintendo is trying to sell both of these games within a short time frame before Breath of the Wild 2 comes out, selling them for the price of a new game would be inexcusable. Twilight Princess' physical release cost $10 more than the digital edition at $60, but at least came with an amiibo that unlocked a dungeon for the remaster and a dog companion in Breath of the Wild, which can't be accessed so easily these days, unless you're willing to settle for fan-made amiibo cards on Etsy or self-programmed NFC tags.
But the reality is Nintendo will probably charge $60 for each of these anyway, and the amiibo will be sold separately, because they don't care what makes sense; only what they can do to squeeze as much money out of consumers' wallets as circumstances will possibly allow. I fully admit I'm part of the problem, because I would buy these games at $60 if they brought them over to the Switch, because I can't just vote with my wallet; I'm a slave to my nostalgia.

Sure I’d play them. Wind waker is one of those games from my childhood I loved but didn’t finish so If a port became available I’d write that wrong.
But if they didn’t happen I won’t be losing sleep over it. I’d rather brand new games anyways like BOTW 2 (and they can take their time with that…. Not that they haven’t been 😅)

I want Oracles of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. That's what I want, and I'm not picky about how they get it to me.

Still got the Wii U versions, but happy to play them again on the Switch knowing that the Wii U won't last forever. I'd like to see some extra content though, as there were a number of improvements made to the Wii U remasters as well as HD graphics and having gamepad inventory management.

I had a Wii before and Switch is my second Nintendo console, so I never got to play these. So a big yes for me.

Both great games, maybe my favouite Zelda games, I was a big fan of the GameCube. Still have my GameCube copy of Twilight Princess I rushed out to buy after work on launch day... would certainly be happy to play again on my Switch after skipping the Wii U.

I own them both on Wii U but who am I kidding, I would still buy them for Switch. Playing them portably on the OLED screen is cause enough for me to double dip because I manage my finances very poorly.

Thing is, fall is already super packed and compared to the other things I want to play, they would place much lower on the priority list.

Will I buy them if they are released? Yeah, probably. The only non-CD-I Zelda games I don’t own are the GBA ports of the original and II.

Do I believe the rumors? I haven’t for the past five years they’ve been swirling, and nothing is going to make me believe it without hard evidence.

Do I think they need to be ported? Not really. Wind Waker can’t get better than with the game pad anyway, and it kind of makes it a mandatory game to pick up for people who get into Wii U collecting in the future, given it’s one of the few “exclusives” left on the console.

Have them both on Wii U. Twilight Princess double, Wii and Wii U version.

I'd like to play them again, yes, but I don't think they should be any more than £20-30 each. For me, this all ties into the question of whether the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible. If it is (which I think it should be), we should really have Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the system... but then we should also have remasters of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask etc.

I've played both games to the point I never want to play them again. If they come to Switch, it will just be time that Nintendo wasted on a project I care nothing about.

I have been extremely hyped for these games since the Switch launched... However, I guess my hype kind of has died.

I have a Steam Deck now, and I'm enjoying that way more than I ever enjoyed the Switch. Also not sure if I want to spend 120,- on two Zelda games I already own multiple times.

I definitely want them, but I wish Nintendo just did Virtual Console still. Having basically every big game from all of their major platforms for budget prices would be incredible to have back.

I hope they come on one cart, the games are great have them both on gamecube but I admit I have not played windwaker that much.

I don't really see it as a big deal. They re-release the game and people who haven't had the chance to play them get another chance. Nothing wrong with that.

Unless you're someone who thinks they need to own every version of a game and play it for the millionth time. Then you have a bit of a problem and only yourself to really blame.

A couple years ago I would have wanted them, but Nintendo took too long. I now have both on Wii U and both on Gamecube, and have a Wii and Wii U hooked up next to my Switch.

What we really need is a pikmin 1+2 collection!

I'd love to play these games on the Switch. But I had to vote for the Backwards Compatibility / Virtual Console option (which I assume would include the ability to purchase these Gamecube games digitally since we ain't gonna be jamming disks into this thing).
I never played the Wii U version of Wind Waker but the screenshots had me shocked that they had changed the cell shaded art style. Definitely the best way to play any classic games like these is to do so as accurately as possible to the original.

They should do a remake of legend of zelda 2 links adventure so i can watch people rage on the great temple on youtube.

I've never played Wind Waker and never owned a console it was released for so I'd like that to be released. I don't have much desire to check out Twilight Princess, so I'm pretty meh on that happening or not.

I’d prefer the oracle games get the links awakening treatment.

Ppl buy ports and remasters of games in droves on other consoles when they offer nothing more than "it's native 4k now instead of checkerboard! $70 please!". How much more then will people want ports and remasters of games that will offer a new way to experience them- handheld + console + tabletop...

The ppl who are happy with older versions don't have to buy it. But at least make it an option for those who want it. And I don't think I need to explain just how many ppl want all their fave games to go hybrid.

Ya I'm leaning towards not buying them. There isn't really much incentive for me since I already own two versions of Twilight Princess, one for Wii and Wii U. I also own the Wind Waker remake for Wii U.

Knowing Nintendo they're gonna sell these at full retail price. As much as I love Zelda I think I'll pass unless there is a big price cut at some point.

Very much so. I never finished them on the Wii U because I don't like being tethered to the TV. The last game I ever finished with a traditional console to tv setup was Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii... nearly a decade ago.

I played through Twilight HD a few years ago. And didn't get round to playing Wind Waker in HD before I sold my Wii U although I played through the original back in 2003.

I don't want WW period and TP I don't care for a re-release. I just want something new from Zelda at this point (we know BotW2 is coming... some time, but what's next for 2D Zelda again?).

I would love an HD remake of the original LoZ.

Yes, I would like this. In fact, this is precisely the situation that would make me buy a Switch immediately. I haven’t had a Nintendo console since the N64 and had mostly been out of gaming between 2002 and 2018, so I’d really like a chance to play all of the Zelda games I’d missed in that time. This would be absolutely perfect for me to have them all in one place!

As for a comment about The Last of Us remaster and remake compared to these, there’s a big difference between having something that you can already play across platforms easily (the remaster of Last of Us) and games that are locked to previous consoles and require more to get (Zelda re-releases.) I don’t really care that they decided to do a Last of Us remake but it’s really not the same thing at all in terms of availability.

I have no interest with Zelda games, I mean why should I play that game ?
Every peoples have their own interest.
My interest is on games like DDR, The Sims, Youtubers Life 2, Harvest Moon, Epic Chef, etc but I have no interest at all with Zelda games.
It doesn't look appealing for me, from character design, storyline, gameplay, music, color schemes, popularity, etc.

OoT3D and MM3D are still tied to the 3DS, it would be so simple to port those games as a duo compilation minus the 3D effects.

The Oracle games are still tied to the 3DS eshop (save GBC carts) which will be closing soon, and those could easily reuse the assets from LAHD as a duo compilation.

The original two Zelda games haven’t properly been reimagined in any meaningful way. They are borderline unplayable today (at least Zelda II) and could easily benefit from a PSX-era sprite overhaul (think Legend of Mana) and QoL changes to iron out the esoteric broken English translation and add in a proper storytelling device to these classics. All of this in a duo compilation.

Every one of these I would take over a lazy port of two Wii U ports of Gamecube games.

I'm conflicted. If both are sold together in a bundle and aren't full price, then I wouldn't mind picking them up, but if they're outright full price and you have to buy them individually, which is the likely outcome given this is Nintendo we're talking about, then I'll pass. Could always dig out my Wii U.

I am generally anti-redos but Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda - maybe the only one I truly like. And I don't have it any longer.

Gamecube as the next NSO+ offering would be swell.

I have both these games on the Game cube, and enjoyed them both. I wouldn't be opposed to getting them on the switch again, but it would be easier to swallow if they had a collection of games, all of the original Zeldas on NES, SNES and the Game boy titles (including the GB Color) and Minish cap. A dream perhaps, but what a lovely dream it would be. I had Skyward Sword on Wii, but didn't get into it. The port on the Switch I got really far.
On that same note, Nintendo on switch doesn't normally have noticeable discounts which makes it hard to buy games for it on my opinion, but hey, if people are buying it, why change the practice? If nothing else, I'm just gonna throw them on the dolphin and let it ride.

YES. Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game and I want to play it again without having to plug in my Wii U.

And Twilight Princess Link deserved to stay in Smash Ultimate instead of little boy BOTW Link who is the only Link to have died on screen.

Nonsense, the only thing anyone needs to know to get through those games is - 1) Read the manual (there was always key info you needed to know in them) and 2) Be thorough. Those games play perfectly fine today.

Literally, what are you actually on about? They are playable on the last 3 generations of Nintendo home consoles. I had a Gamecube when it came out. Loved the funky little box of joy. But never had a Wii or Wii U.
And I want to play a HD port of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on my Switch on the way to work, goddamn it.

Yeah, it's the secret Nintendo does not want fans to know about. This is one of those cases where they wasted a lot of resources for this game, only to have it implemented later on.

I personally feel no interest in another port of these games. If we're bringing more games over from the Wii U, the first one I want is Xenoblade Chronicles X. Releasing yet another version of TO and WW just delays BotW 2 further.

I've played both several times over, and still own them, so no would not be interested.

I'd always rather have new games than rereleases or remakes. And I often like playing the original versions on original hardware. Regarding these games, I already own the original versions as well as the Wii U versions.

I wanted these more before I got a used Wii U last year and played Wind Waker. I may buy them eventually. I’ve never played Twilight Princess. I still need to play Skyward Sword which I have for switch but have not played yet.

Right now I’d be most excited for a Metroid Prime remake/remaster or some DLC for Metroid Dread with some additional “real” content.

Considering I never played Twilight Princess I’m not opposed to it being rereleased now.

I have heard that the game is very hand holding in its nature. If they offer a version that disables that I would like to play it.

As for Wind Waker I had it on GameCube. I have a love-hate relationship with that game. I thought the bosses were fantastic; especially the final battle against Ganondorf. I also enjoy how Ganondorf and Zelda (Tetra) were both characterized in that game. Despite its art style, it’s a very dark and sobering Zelda game.

But I disliked the open ocean and how long some things drug on with no end in sight. I’ve heard that the Wii U release fixed most of those issues.

In a (more) perfect world, the Switch and any future Nintendo hardware would be fully backwards-compatible, at least in terms of digital purchases (physical media would be asking too much on several levels). We would have a fully featured Virtual Console with an extensive catalog of first and third-party titles for legacy systems which would be available for permanent purchase tied to a user account, similarly to how Microsoft's BC program works instead of the bad, overpriced joke that is Switch Online.

But we don't live in that world, unfortunately. Nintendo is going to continually force the gamers who've supported them for decades to pay...and pay A PREMIUM...to relive 10 or 15 year-old games on current hardware, and pay an absurd amount to be able to access (but never again own) titles from the NES through the N64 eras. Everything is about avarice-fueled, anal-retentive CONTROL over their IPs and every single product (their word: "license") that we boot up.

So, the question of whether we want another port of Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or any other game really comes down to one's love for said games and how important it is to be able to access them on a single console as opposed to blowing the dust off your old GameCube, Wii, or Wii U (assuming you still have any of them). The ugly truth is that articles just like this one will very likely be written during the run of Nintendo's next console, as we'll be asked to dip yet again to be able to play the same games on the current hardware.

I was really looking forward to these coming out on the switch until i got my steam deck and started playing the Wii U ports of both zeldas and metroid prime trilogy for the Wii with primehack

Both of these games were an amazing romp. I did dislike the wolf portions in twilight, but the rest of the game was so good. I actually enjoyed the sailing ninja wind waker.

Unlike the Switch Pro, the Zelda games have a realistic hope of appearing. Why? Nintendo have a history of releasing old games, whereas the Switch Pro was a complete fantasy born of misconstruing the speculated hardware we eventually saw as the red box and OLED updates.

@HalBailman I disagree. Nintendo has no choice but to release a new system. All the signs are there. There is no doubt they will announce something by October and release by March.

Zelda ports, on the other hand, are very unlikely. Partly because BOTW2 is so close, but also because Nintendo never gives people what they want. And I mean, come on, WW didn't sell well either time they released it, doing it a third time will not impress investors.

Nintendo has done countless ports to Switch, and that's why I give these Zelda games a realistic chance.

I considered buying a Wii U solely to play Windwaker, then considered the price of a 2nd hand GC Windwaker to play on my Wii, but found that it is an expensive rare game. I found best value for money and convenience came in the form of emulation. This is why Nintendo needs virtual console. I would have paid $30 to play this game, probably more.

It's not that I can't play both titles, I even recently played both on GameCube, but it's the ease of being able to play them on the go that's makes me want to get them both. Still, I'd have rather seen a remake of Oracle of Seasons and Ages.

I’m pretty meh on those two really, both were underwhelm. If it was Link Between Worlds I’d be very hyped or maybe a Link’s Awakening-style remake of some of the earlier 2D GB games I’d be interested.

I've already played Twilight Princess four times including the HD remake on the Wii U which is the definitive one for me. I'm not so chuffed about playing that yet again, though of course I will should it be released. It has already been ported or remade from gamecube to Wii to Wii U.

Windwaker on the other hand I would play again as I played the Wii U version (which was outstanding) and the original game cube version. So just the twice. LOL.

If you aren't porting to another device with the same architecture, it's not even close to easy and may run worse on much better hardware than the original.

@UltimateOtaku91 Most people complained about the stylistic change of TLoU. Not that they were rereleasing it. I was excited until I saw they removed the gritty high contrast lighting and aged up all the models with a million more wrinkles. Tess is supposed to be around 40 but the remake makes her look like she is in her 60s. The original model actually looked closer to the voice actor that played her too. This seems to be a bit of trend with Sony games recently, such as the drastic change in Peter Parker and Aloy.

I'd love to see them on their, but just hope this doesnt mean we are getting further delays on BotW2. Although I fear this may end up a cross-gen launch game for "Switch 2" rather like BotW did with Wii U/Switch.

What are the chances of Nintendo releasing a special edition 3 pack with WW, TP and SS remasters? That's what I'm hoping for.. not necessarily to play right away, but so I have the best versions of the GC/Wii era Zeldas available in my gaming collection in one nice package 🙏

I'll probably dust off the WiiU instead, especially if they are full price. I'd love to play Windwaker again, but not Twilight Princess. I have beaten that game three times now and I think that's enough. The only reason for me to play it again after the first time was Midna. The best companion stuck in one of the worst Zelda games.

Personally, I'd love to see both games coming to Switch, either as a collection on a single cartridge or separate releases.

I may be biased since I played these games way back when they released and consider them the reason why I fell in love with gaming as a kid, but I would love to see both games ported over for a new audience. Considering how poorly the WIiU sold, I doubt the remasters sold particularly well, and it would be awesome to give a new generation of gamers the opportunity to play these gems on Switch!

I'll always buy Windwaker again, but I'm not fussed about Twilight Princess even though I enjoyed it.

I'm also under no illusions that these being rereleased will in any way delay BotW2. Completely different teams will be working on these and the only thing that will get BotW2 out quicker is releasing it before it's ready. I don't think anybody really wants that do they?

It's not been a huge amount of time since Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD released for Wii U. I'm not so sure they'd release them both on one cartridge either. Anyway I'd rather have remakes of the Oracle games, or Zelda 1 & 2.

@BobLong-RickTangle Pretty much 0% chance of that because they just released Skyward Sword separately. It would devalue it to throw it in with two other games when they're currently selling it for full price. If they had to make that collection really expensive it wouldn't be affordable for the masses which goes against how they usually price their games to target the family demographic

@ThePizzaCheese Nintendo stated this year that the Switch is only a little over half way through it's lifecycle so I don't see another console releasing for at least 2-3 more years. Due to sales they're hopeful for a much longer lifecycle than the typical 5 years they get from their home consoles. If the 3DS lasted almost 8 years the Switch should go longer than that. Also, I don't think they would they want to move on yet as the Switch is still selling fantastically

@LXP8 Usually when they say stuff like that it really means "we absolutely are releasing something new soon but don't want people to know yet".

I have no doubt they'll continue to sell Switch alongside a new system though. In fact, it's the Switch's huge install base and continued demand that gives Nintendo the freedom to try something new and risky. If it flops, they can just go back to the Switch. Waiting until demand wains is exactly what got them into trouble with Wii U. They waited until Wii demand dried up before releasing the Wii U, so when if flopped they had nothing to fall back on.

Releasing a new system during the height of the old is the less risky option. And when demand does begin to drop Nintendo won't lose any investors if they see they have a new system that is growing.

Ultimately, we know that the chip the Switch is made from will no longer be produced, so they have to make something new. The release of new Pokemon games are also usually used as a financial fall back, which means they're defiantly up to something. Plus the delay of Zelda to Spring suggests they're trying to mimic their Switch's success in 2017.

But hey, what do I know?

Before the Switch, my last Nintendo console was a SNES, so for a platform I own, I am well up for rereleases, remasters or remakes of great games I missed.

@ThePizzaCheese Based on their statements I do believe they're going for a longer lifecycle this time. The DS was a third pillar for a time and then they changed strategy due to it's success. They were still releasing Gamecube and Gameboy Advance games in 2006 so for over a year all three consoles were in the spotlight.
I'm not sure what you mean about Pokemon. With the exceptions of gens 4+5 every new gen has released 3 years apart with multiple other games within each gen releasing within those 3 years. That doesn't say to me that they're timing gen 9 solely to boost the Switch in any way

I think there are a lot of people who have not played WW or TP on any console, so would welcome this. Even if you have played or owned either of these recently, there's no reason to be 'against' a port for the benefit of those who haven't experienced them. It's a fairly simple win win for everyone. They're 20 and 15 years old respectively.

I'm all for remakes, if I haven't played the games it's a good opportunity to catch up, if I did play them, it might be a good excuse to replay it. If I'm not hyped about the game, it's fine, it's not like the team making BotW 2 is working on these games.

It's pretty much a win on every aspect. I rather have classical games being given another life than having ***** new low budget games. And y backlog is kind of out of control, so I'm not offended by new games being released that I'm not interested in than the opposite.

In that case I kind of want to replay Wind Waker, but I've played it on Wii U and it doesn't seem to me like it was that long ago.

The options in the poll aren't mutual exclusive, which bugs me. I'd like to play TP and WW on switch with enhacend features, and I don't think the predicition is accurate.

Nintendo should remake older Legend of Zelda games such as the Oracle game or Adventure of Link, i can live without Twilight Princess/Wind Waker on my Switch, give this less well know games a time to shine Nintendo.

@LXP8 Nintendo is stating Switch in his half lifecycle since 2019, so this statment can't been taken serioly.

@LXP8 Like I said, they'll definitely still support Switch, just along side something new. Plus Reggie recently said they fully intened to phase out GBA with the launch of the DS. The "third pillar" thing was just lip service.

As for Pokemon, Ninfendo always releases them for older systems. Crystal, FRLG, Emerald, BWB2W2, USUM, all were released around when the next system came out. The idea is to ensure strong sales for that year in the event the new system fails. As long as they have Pokemon to fall back on investors are happy. They've done it for every time they've released a new handheld or console since the GBA.

Nintendo even stated that they skipped 'Z' and jumped to gen 7 in order to calm fears the release of Pokemon Go could damage the frachise. The fact that they've now skipped a third gen 8 game and gone straight to 9 indicates that they're trying to create financial confidence so they can do something risky.

You have to admit, now is a great time to take a risk. No matter what they do, no one would be concerd for Nintendo's future.

Of course I want these ports! Even though I already own them on the Wii U. It's mad that they've not been put on the Switch sooner, I understand why, but this could've been done five years ago. Plus many people new to Nintendo and Zelda with the Switch should have an easy access route to playing these two games, two of the best Zelda games in my opinion.

Personally I'm tired of remakes, but as long as there are people in need of a convenient way to play, or people that have never played the games when they originally released, then it's no problem from me.

It’s not going to happen but I really wish they’d go a bit further with their remasters as far as bonus content goes. Unlockable artwork, peeks at cut content- hell, go all out and film mini documentaries of the games with interviews of the staff behind them. Make them more of a celebration of them and not just another re-release. Of course they don’t have to do any of that to make them sell and so they won’t but it would be nice especially for those potentially buying these games for the third time now

I wouldn't mind a Twilight Princess remake or even rerelease on the Switch since I've missed the opportunity to play that one.

@ThePizzaCheese That's my belief: BOTW 2 on Switch successor, probably early 2024. These remakes are the compensation.

I would rather have a sequel to 'Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity' set in the changed timeline that features a lot of the areas from 'Breath of the Wild' that were missing in the first game like the beach area which was strangely absent from 'Age of Calamity' despite having guardians on it in 'Breath of the Wild.'

Also what happened to the port of 'Super Mario Galaxy 2?' It was believed they were going to have one for Switch since it was missing from the 'Super Mario 3D All Stars' collection.

I'd buy both again, especially Wind Waker as I don't think this version of Zelda ever got the wide audience it deserved begin released on two under rated/preforming Nintendo consoles.

I wouldn't really count FR/LF in that list as they released in Jan 2004. As for the others I think they only stuck with the older console because of their high install base rather than risk low sales on a new console. The first 3DS Pokémon was 2 years after the console released and the first on switch was a year and a half into it's life. I also consider the DLC for Sword and Shield as the third game. It's what they did instead of the usual 3rd version due to the fan backlash/low sales Ultra Sun/Moon received.

Yeah that makes sense that this is the best time to take risks but I just don't see their next gen console coming early next year. I guess only time will tell

I didn't care for these games when they were new and I played them for the first time, I didn't buy them on Wii U, and I won't buy them on Switch either. But eh, from a more objective perspective every single Wii U game (except poor Xenoblade X) has been ported, so why not its remakes too?

Yes. Already played wind waker on wii u but I want to collect the physicall cart on switch. And I haven't played twilight princess yet since already sold the wii u back then, so I want to play that on switch.

Admittedly, it does seem like NOA and NOJ had different plans regarding GBA, but he does mention it was in decline.

And that's my point about Pokemon. They use it to ensure strong sales figures. BW were released on DS as a safety net in case the 3DS and Wii U launches failed, which they did. The fact that they were a new gen at the time allowed them to also release sequels on the DS almost two years into the 3DS' life cycle. X and Y only can after they had gained an install base and helped them to regain financial confidence.

Even with the DLC, Nintendo still could have done another gen 8 game if they wanted. Heck, they kinda did with Legends of Arceus. The fact that we are getting another Pokemon gen so soon suggests they are again prepping for finical stability in case of disaster.

There are other signs too, but yeah, time will tell. Nintendo does like to surprise people, so anything could happen.

@Ruthven I don't think that better sales of the GameCube and Wii U would have helped WW sales. I'd guess that most of the hard core Zelda fans bought both those systems specifically for Zelda. Plus the Wii supported GameCube games too, so the install base for it was definitely there.

I also don't think it has as wide appeal as BOTW does. It's potential sales figures would probably be similar to the SS remake (3.85 million).

@ThePizzaCheese I'm saying I think it's just a case of the devs/Pokemon Company etc wanting strong sales for the series so they release on the most popular current console. The schedule is too consistent with the release of each new gen (3 years between each) and doesn't line up with the always changing length that each console is on the market for. Therefore I don't think it can be used as a sign of an incoming console next March. They're just releasing the next gen at the same rate they always do

@LXP8 I disagree. Business isn't nearly that simple. They can't afford to just plainly release games without planing. Like I said, Nintendo has gone on record saying they skipped Z solely because of Pokemon Go. There is a strategy. You gotta admit that two Pokemon games in less then a year is really weird.

Yeah of course certain planning and strategy comes with the release of any game but in the case of the first games released each gen it's been to make sure they release them 3 years after the last ones. It was only gens 4 and 5 that took 4 years which is only 2/9 gens and a long time ago. The only quote I can find regarding the lack of Pokemon Z is from Junichi Masuda who works at Gamefreak, not Nintendo and he said it was because he wanted to surprise fans with a new gen instead of releasing the expected 3rd version. Could you send a link with a quote where Nintendo discussed Pokemon Go being a factor? As for Legends Arceus, considering it began development in 2019 I believe it was likely a response from the development team to Breath of the Wild and wanting to create a game in the Pokemon universe like that, since they were developing for a hybrid console by that point rather than a portable. Otherwise they would have just continued as normal creating BD/SP instead of ILCA. Another team developing games means more releases than normal

What a dumb question... of course! I've been waiting for these two games to be on the Switch since I missed out on a Wii U.
