At the Gearbox Showcase during PAX West, 2K and Gearbox Software have lifted the lid on New Tales from the Borderlands with an extensive look at brand new gameplay.
The footage is from the PC release of the title, which is due to launch on October 21st, 2022 alongside the Nintendo Switch version. Clocking in at nearly 20 minutes, the gameplay features playable characters Anu, Octavio, and Fran as they sneak through the sewers of Promethea. The usual brand of Borderlands humour is on full display here, along with the familiar QTE and decision making mechanics that fans of the first game will be pleased to see return.

Be sure to also keep an eye out for a rather comical reference to the Metal Gear Solid franchise. You can't miss it, to be fair, but it certainly made us giggle!
Here's a reminder of the features New Tales from the Borderlands will showcase:
- Every Choice Matters. Every choice you make can impact how your story unfolds, often in unexpected ways. Only by playing through the game will you fully understand how your decisions can change the Borderlands;
- Impact of Quick Time Events. Succeeding at or failing QTEs has a tangible impact on your adventure, sometimes leading to a premature conclusion and other times shaping your story in unexpected ways;
- Immersive Visuals. In addition to stunning environments, New Tales from the Borderlands utilizes vastly improved movement and facial animations, using performance capture and facial mapping technology for the first time ever in a Borderlands title.
Will you be checking out New Tales from the Borderlands when it launches next month? Make your decision and let us know in the comments!

Stairs? NOOOOOOOOO!
I really enjoyed the original, despite the Telltale formula being a bit long in the tooth. Heard Gearbox took characters from that and ruined them in Borderlands 3.
Not feeling this
Looks terrible. Well it looks alright I guess. Visually. The characters, humour, dialogue, all seem terrible. Hope to be proven wrong tho...
I watched that 18 minute trailer and went from no interest to preorder confirmed.
I'm not even really into these types of games, but the humor and characters grabbed me. The first is included in the physical release as a free download too, and is Telltale's highest rated game I believe at an 88 (or one of the highest, anyways).
This is being developed by Gearbox though which is really cool. The formula works so well for Borderlands.
Provides laughs ? Why because it's written so poorly it's a joke lol
