Team 17 has announced that it will be publishing a "sinister fishing adventure" game called Dredge, developed by New Zealand-based studio Black Salt Games.
The game will see you take on the role of a "down and out" fisherman who must explore a group of islands and plunge the depths of the sea for all sorts of interesting riches. You'll be able to sell your treasures to locals, complete quests, and upgrade your ship, but heading out in the dark may invite some unwelcome attention from strange and deadly beasts. The visuals and overall approach definite reminds us of the iconic sailing mechanic from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, though we can't imagine we'll be scouring the sea for Triforce shards here.

Here's a selection of features from Team 17:
Unravel a Mystery: Captain your fishing trawler across a collection of remote islands, each with its own inhabitants to meet, wildlife to discover, and stories to unearth
Dredge the Depths: Scour the sea for hidden treasures and complete quests to gain access to strange new abilities
Study Your Craft: Research special equipment and upgrade your boat’s capabilities to gain access to rare fish and valuable deep-sea curios
Fish to Survive: Sell your discoveries to the locals to learn more about each area, and upgrade your boat to reach even more secluded locations
Fight the Unfathomable: Strengthen your mind and use special abilities to survive trips out on the water after dark
Dredge currently has a rather vague '2023' release window attached to it, but needless to say, we'll be keeping a close eye on this one in the months ahead.
Are you looking forward to Dredge launching on Switch next year? What do you make of the trailer? Let us know!

Hmmm, c'est tres interesaunt
Im in. Sold. Looks nice. Was the music in the trailer, from the game or outside?
Apparently now any game with a boat is Windwaker huh?
Errr... Perhaps this is Wind Waker without the "The Legend of Zelda" part in the name? This has nothing to do with that lol, you can't even get off the boat.
Nice clickbait.
Looks very atmospheric indeed.
@Zucaritas major Wind Waker vibes from GTA: Vice City
I heard about this on Steam and found it very intriguing. I am really happy to hear it will be on Switch!
looks quite promising. Taps into my fear of sea monsters.
@Zucaritas
When I saw that island at 00:19 I thought I was looking at Windfall island first. That kraken coming out of the sea felt very familiar, too. And then there is the cel-shading art style. I‘d definately say the game has a windwaker vibe to it but that of course doesn’t need to be a bad thing.
