The First Review For Live A Live's Switch Remake Is Now In

Love this game. Hope it continues to review well, and I’m super excited to get my hands on it on Friday!

But it’s not a 28 year old game is it? It’s a remake.

Famitsu review numbers are decided by a very complex process of throwing balls number from 4 to 40 in a pool and allowing an expert manatee to choose the most fitting one.

I was all in getting this game. Then I played the demo and decided it’s not for me. That demo saved me $65!

So hyped to play this on Friday! I stopped playing the demo after about an hour to wait and play the full game instead. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be sitting on the shelf for a while...

I’m really excited for this! Maybe next up we will get Bahamut Lagoon??

@Jacoby I'm still getting it as I already own the original on Super NES but couldn't read the language. Now I'm glad I could complete what I started.

Im definitely excited for this. It's sort of what Ive been wanting from this whole new Squeenix graphics engine: a proper RPG.

Only thing I'm not looking forward to is saying goodbye to one chapter and saying hello to the next. I know im going to get attached to the character(s) and then that's it, they're gonna be gone. I'm curious to see if like, your RPG progress carries over to the next character or if each chapter is a brand new canvas.

When does the embargo lift for your review (if you're allowed to say)?

Honestly...I tried the demo and it didn't really do much for me. The game looks good but other than that, there wasn't much that I enjoyed. Battle system in particular isn't really for me.

@Sonos with the idea of equal pay for equal work, by that description they should earn as much as bankers.

I'm not arguing that they shouldn't, nor am I arguing that bankers "earn" money, that money has any value, or anything other than just that bankers make up numbers out of thin air, that is all.

Got my copy today, but I'll probably want to finish Apollo Justice first.

Bought a copy on general principle (S-E touching up and re-releasing their back catalogue is something that should be supported and encouraged), but I probably won't get around to this in years.

@Shambo As a former banker I can assure you - no numbers are made out of thin air - outside of maybe consumer fees. But even fees have to be competitive with other banks or they lose customers. All of banking revolves around the mitigation of risk.

By the sound of the scores, this will be a not-for-everyone game, but for those it's for, it will be a homerun. Nothing wrong with that!

I'm curious about how well this game will sell. The original wasn't really a cult classic or something. It was a random choice to remake in highsight.

I wanted this game to get a US localization way back when I was a kid in the late 90’s. Magazines and websites would talk about the game, but it seemed destined to never leave Japan.

Then a couple years later when the fan translation first released, the hype online throughout JRPG communities was so strong. I can’t remember any other fan translations getting this much buzz besides Mother 3.

I can’t believe we’re getting an official release of Live A Live in English this week. I never thought this would happen.

Just another good but nothing special then.

It’s funny as I enjoyed Live A Live more than CT growing up. So I am HYPED for Friday.

In the oldest German Video Game Magazine (M! Games) It got 83%

I forgot about this until Monday afternoon at work when I discovered I had a half hour to receive around 500 copies of this and around a thousand of XC3. I have no idea where this month has gone.

49.99...for a 16 bit remake? Good lord the Great Ace Attorney was 29.99 for 2 full modern games... Hard pass til price drop, cause I'll get it eventually.

Honestly, there's kinda a reason this wasn't localized. It's not super great and its releasing almost full price the same month as xbc 3. Like I played a translation forever ago. It's goodish, but it's also disjointed and the last stage is overly long for what's basically a single dungeon.

@mattesdude Sigh. Bahamut Lagoon. One of my favorites and one of the best RPGs I have played...and yet I can never stomach finishing it and I hate thinking about it.

Up to now I still can't get over the cuckoldry/NTR shenanigans that happen in that game. It ruins an amazing game to the point that I can't even play it anymore.

What’s the big fuss about this game anyway. Is it first party?

I don't care about famitsu scores really. They pretty much mostly give just about every game 8 or above.

Downloading demo, if I like it will be added to watchlist for when theres a massive price drop!

In the UK it isn't the standard RRP for full price switch games.

@Gallivant I didn’t know about that stuff. I just remember seeing screen shots when I was younger and thinking it looked amazing! It was also at a time when I hadn’t had a miss with a Squaresoft title…those were the days!
I guess at some point I could’ve played a rom, but I haven’t.

@mattesdude it did look amazing. If it got released now, the pixel graphics would still hold up, that's how good it looked. And it's not like the gameplay was bad, it was fresh and innovative for its time. Plus the Near's (RIP) professional fan translation is flawless. Everything about it is amazing EXCEPT that stupid plot ruins it. Up to now Yoyo is still one of my most hated female characters ever, in any medium. And I'm frustrated that you can't even dump her or refute her, you were a slave to the plot as she leaves you for her Stockholm Syndrome lover.
