The next entry to the 'Arcade Archives' line-up has been revealed. Arcade Archives Trio the Punch will launch on Switch tomorrow (May 19th) for the standard price of $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29.
Originally released in 1990 by Data East, the game is a side-scrolling beat-em-up in which you choose one of three playable characters: Tough Guy, Ninja, and Swordsman. You'll be navigating a variety of environments, including a rainforest, urban cities, a Middle Eastern desert, medieval Japan, and a futuristic military base.
Known for its somewhat wacky aesthetics, part of the game sees you go up against 'Bird Brain', a character that looks suspiciously like Colonel Sanders.

Announced in 2020 as an "upcoming" release, it has been more than a year and a half but finally, after Namco releases cutting the line, we'll get this bizarre Data East classic. Day one (or almost) for me.
Might check this out just to blast Colonel Sanders in the face.
just from the screenshots, I'm already pretty excited to take Colonel Sanders down a peg
As soon as I saw a Colonel Sanders type character I had a feeling this was Data East lol. Arcade archives gives me no shortage of curios that I have never played, so this is going right in my wishlist.
Yes, I love this game. I remember PBG talking about this game years ago and it was so weird that I still remember it to this day.
Well this will be the first Data East game on the Arcade Archives line.
We've seen Data East games before on Johnny Turbo's Arcade but I'm told those have used outdated emulation resulting in known gameplay flaws.
"somewhat wacky aesthetics" That's putting it mildly.
@KingMike there are other Data East games in the Arcade Archives line. I personally have Burger Time and Burnin' Rubber
Finally! I look forward to striking ‘the pose’ at the end of every stage!
Now that's a Kusoge with a capital K.
Back in the early days of the Internet, there was a site called Overclocked that ran a frequent webcomic about old game emulation and slightly angry reviews of bad games, predating AVGN by years. That's how I learned of this game, lol.
Same thing with Wonder Momo and Pistol Shogun. It's crazy to think how I still remember these games that I had never played.
You got me at Colonel Sanders.
