Dear Villagers and Alkemi have shuffled their decks and laid their cards out on the table in the newest trailer for their upcoming deck-building narrative game, Foretales.
With art inspired by classic 2D Disney cartoons, Foretales is a deckbuilder that looks to put the story at the top of the deck. Developer Alkemi says the "decksploration" mechanic sees every interaction and story beat play out through the cards. Players will be able to deal out their own adventure — sometimes you might be able to get past foes without fighting or even recruit someone to your party with a bottle of ale. The choice is in the hands of the player, and your choices will often lead to consequences.
The trailer also showcases Travis Willingham — the unmistakable voice actor of Knuckles the Echidna, Roy from Full Metal Alchemist, and now known for the hugely popular online D&D campaign Critical Role — and his booming voice.
Check out the trailer below to see the game in action, and let us know whether you'll be grabbing Foretales when it drops on Switch this summer!

These types of games can be hit or miss. This one looks interesting for sure.
I like the art style. I also like the idea of exploring concepts other than duels via cards. Sign me up!
This game's been on my wishlist for some time and seeing this new footage only made me want to have it even more. It looks like it's going to be a ton of fun and I love the art direction
This looks fantastic. I would hope it gets a nice physical edition, but I'll get the game regardless.
Definitely looks pretty interesting having it more story based and it does have a lovely art style. Will keep an eye on it even if I'm feeling burnt out on card games at the moment.
It's on my list, although I'd be a bit worried Disney's lawyers might come calling ... as close to Robin Hood as these characters are.
The card artwork alone if much stronger than most card game fare. Really top notch stuff. I consider most card art in video games poor at best. Pubescent Dungeons and Dragons doodles or I just got my first copy of 'How To Draw Anime' level talent.
This is not an example of that. Much better.
Steamworld quest has been my favorite card based game. I want more like that. None of these others seem to interest me at all.
